A prominent New Jersey doctor well known for taking in foster kids was rocked by an unthinkable horror — when one of his adopted children allegedly stabbed another to death in their home.
“Rest peacefully, angel,” Dr. Robert Gallo wrote on his Facebook page with a picture of his daughter Teia, 20.
Her foster brother, Travis Gallo, 17, allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in front of two other siblings at their Washington Township home, sources said.

we adopted our boys... the oldest is now almost 18... he came to us when he was 5... our younger son--his biological half-brother is 13... he was an infant when he came to us... our older son had an awful home life before he came to us... but he adapted nicely... thrived immediately... is smart, sharp, witty... musically and mathematically talented... the younger is like sunshine when he enters a room... both speak eloquently... they often have strangers who over hear them speak ask them where they go to school...
we have homeschooled them--from the start... they have been given a classical Christian education... and i think we were given the two best boys ever :)
You’re correct: there are trashy people in every group. But I am not talking about “trashy” behavior; I am talking about physically violent behavior.
True. But I think the risk is still higher when you adopt, newborn adoption excluded.

When I used the word "trash" I was engaging in deliberate understatement.In the Kennedys' case....two dead women,one stabbed in the neck with the shaft of an outrageously expensive golf club....at least one rape....at least one under-age baby sitter "diddled"....at least one fatal heroin OD....at least one arrest for heroin possession.Those things are way,way beyond "trashy",they're...well,I think you get the idea.And every one of the perps was whiter than me.
By the time a child is three, a lot of behaviors have been laid down. Babies are born with their brain only partly programmed. In the first two or three years, some things happen to that brain which cannot easily be modified. We adopted a little girl when she was 2 1/2. She had been abused. She now is very functional and I love her but she was a challenge to raise.
At the end of the day, the Doctor is responsible.
Most likely, He was busy with his life and left his warehouse full of kids to “others” to tend to which “perhaps” led to no one noticing any “sign” about this kid being a tad deficient in his cerebellum, which we now CLEARLY know.
No doubt the Doctor meant well but “9” kids of his own plus the adopted kids tells a thoughtful,reflective, intelligent person that the good docs character IS “a little” flawed. I mean an OB-GYN Doc is a busy, busy man!
How could he possibly allocate time to each kid, to say nothing of love.
Now that one of his flock has killed another human being, and the taxpayer gets stuck with the bill (millions) for his raging libido and recklessness, will he accept full responsibility in terms of dollars and words. I doubt it.
Bottom line: I can’t believe this kid did not in some way show signs of danger towards the other kids. Perhaps an investigation will uncover such information. Perhaps not. But, if their is some history re the kid being a danger to others, then the good doc may have an issue with a local prosecutor. I believe in adoption but 13 -15 kids and a full time OB-GYN doc is rather like 2 + 2 = 5......
Then you're a fool. And a bigot. Have you forgotten that each and every one of us is made in the Image and Likeness of God? This monster was likely suffering from reactive attachment disorder (RAD). THe first few months of a baby's life are so important. And this kid probably lived in Hell for the first three years of his. Kids like this need a special kind of parent. He may have had them, I am not judging these parents.
Now he belongs to the system - the only way he can be saved at this point is by Christ Jesus.

Africa is a mess, just look at it........ but I don’t know if I can blame it on hot weather. Lots of places on the globe are hot. Not all black people are violent killers either.
Interesting you say the cerebellum - do you have a link? I know there are studies that people who suffer early trauma have smaller hippocampi. RAD is just starting to be examined as both a medical and psychological disorder. Healing is possible, but it takes a lot of work and intensive parenting.
What you are saying is the kid was probably hanging out on Sand Road a bit. (Sand Rd is a section of Westwood that shares Westwood HS with Washington Twp. Actually Westwood HS is in Washington Twp.)

Congratulations! I have a friend who is similarly blessed and happy... but sometimes nature trumps nurture.
Exactly. WHen an infant cries, he is fed, changed, or picked up and rocked. He learns to trust his world. He learns to trust his mother. By the time he's independent, i.e. crawling, walking, reaching for a hot stove, a parent is able to correct him without compromising his ability to trust. A child who lived in Hell the first three years of his life, which I'm assuming this kid did, has never learned to trust. The corrections to him are coming from a completely different place.
God bless on your healed child. I also am the adopted father and grandfather of once broken, now healed (or healing) children.
