I didn’t either, and I’m a Baptist preacher. Not going to a church on Christmas means nothing, one way or the other. His Marxism troubles me. His Islamist bent troubles me.
Going to church “Mass” on Christmas is a primarily Catholic thing. A lot of Protestant churches have a midnight service but its not really a major issue.
My sister went to a midnight service at her Methodist church.
Seriously? Which days are appropriate to go to church? Stay home on Easter too?
I was raised Pentecostal and never set foot in a church on Christmas.
Agreed. Have never attended church on Christmas or Christmas Eve. Always had our Christmas service the Sunday before. Usually a Christmas program with the kids that evening or some weeknight before Christmas Day.
But The Obama’s not going at all, ever, is not surprising.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the headline. If I recall, going to church on Christmas is a Catholic / Orthodox practice. I don’t think either Bushes or Clinton or Reagan ever attended services on Christmas day, so for me, this is a big nothingburger.
How embarrassing for you. Amazing, considering all Christendom for centuries has marked it as a Holy Day. I keep forgetting that the West is basically unserious about their devotions, though. Convenience and one’s mood comes first.
