A couple weeks ago, New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio met with President Obama and 15 other hand-picked, newly-elected mayors to talk about a “progressive movement” sweeping the nation.
I sincerely hope he’s wrong, but when you examine The 10 Planks of the Communist Manifesto, it appears eight of them are in full flower in the US, meaning we could be 80 percent of the way there already.
Here’s the score so far:
1. Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose. In June of 2011, while the nation was collectively focusing on Anthony Weiner’s privates, the president quietly signed Executive Order 13575 establishing the White House Rural Council to insert federal involvement in basically every aspect of life in rural areas. Per the order, the WHRC will “coordinate and increase the effectiveness of Federal engagement with rural stakeholders, including agricultural organizations, small businesses, education and training institutions, healthcare providers, telecommunications services providers, research and land grant institutions, law enforcement, State, local, and tribal governments, and nongovernmental organizations regarding the needs of rural America.” And don’t forget the government’s power of “eminent domain.”
2. A heavy progressive or gradated income tax. In 1913 when individual income tax was created, the top rate was just seven percent. Today the top marginal tax rate is 39.6 percent and according to the Democrats, it’s still not enough.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Currently the “death tax” rate is 40 percent for estates above approximately $5 million – but don’t forget, at the beginning of 2013 it was set to go up to 55 percent for estates above $1 million. That crisis was averted last New Year’s Eve to avoid toppling over the fiscal cliff, but don’t believe for a second it won’t be revisited at some point.
4. Confiscation of the property of emigrants and rebels. Here’s the thing: who decides what constitutes a rebel? And it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to connect the dots to IRS targeting of conservatives and Tea Party members.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly. In 1913, when personal income tax was created, we also got another gift: The Federal Reserve Bank, a national bank which controls monetary policy – regardless of national fiscal policy.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the state. The Federal Communications Commission was established in 1934 and the Department of Transportation in 1967.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. See number one above and add to it the Community Reinvestment Act, auto and bank bailouts, Departments of Agriculture, Commerce and Labor and Interior, Bureaus of Land Management, Reclamation, Mines, the National Park Service – oh, and Obamacare.
8. Free education for all children in government schools. The Department of Education and the teachers’ union control the education process. – and now they’re pushing for Common Core. According to Politicker, De Blasio said the group talked about universal pre-K and said a lot of the mayors talked about early childhood education as “one of the breakthrough things we have to do to change the dynamics.’ And of course Obama agrees: “There was real passion in the president’s voice when he talked about how fundamental it is to move forward an early education agenda in this country and I think we all now know clearly that he will be a partner in all we need to do.” Early indoctrination is key.
The two Communist planks we’re lagging on are:
Equal obligation of all to work. Given the anemic workforce participation rate and the continuing largesse of the government, work is definitely losing its appeal for many.
A more equitable distribution of the population over the country. Perhaps as the “success” of cities like Detroit is replicated across the nation, that will happen.
According to Politicker, de Blasio said after his meeting with Obama that “fighting inequality is the mission of our times.”
Really? I thought the mission was fighting the assault on our Constitution, our freedom and our way of life, but I’m old-fashioned that way.
De Blasio was especially giddy about the enthusiasm this “progressive movement” was receiving from the White House, saying, it was extraordinarily gratifying to hear the passion with which the president and the vice president spoke about this challenge that our country faces and their desire to be active partners with us addressing income inequality and so many other challenges we face.”
He’s right that we’re facing a challenge. We’re facing a challenge to our very soul as a nation. Soon it will be 2014. Thank God.

These are the startling theories they utter in their meetings, set forth in their pamphlets, and scatter abroad in a cloud of journals and tracts. Wherefore, the revered majesty and power of kings has won such fierce hatred from their seditious people that disloyal traitors, impatient of all restraint, have more than once within a short period raised their arms in impious attempt against the lives of their own sovereigns.

Who needs a manifesto or a revolution when the Left can vote us to death!
Now that they've got one of their own in the White House, they're ranting about "income inequality." It's "the rich have too much money" meme which they've adopted as their new slogan. As if since the industrial revolution, everybody should have the same amount of wealth. Life isn't quite fair that way. Some people have a much better aptitude for making money than others.
I researched those same 10 points of communism once myself. I went to the public library in California, and asked if they had a copy of the communist manifesto. That librarian put a copy of the communist manifesto in my hand in less than a second. I just wonder how many years it would have taken, for her to give me a copy of the constitution?

I disagree. Partly because I’m optimistic, but more so because we never recognize a high tide until it begins to recede. Obamacare is proving that BIG government not only can’t work, but that it’s totally inept. Today, some 65% of Americans believe that the greatest danger we face is from a bloated, rapacious government. People have already forgotten what NYC was like under Dinkins..the squeegee men, the homeless sleeping everywhere, urinating and defecating in the street. Grand Central Station, as just one example, resembled downtown Calcutta. Give DeBlasio about 3 years..
What about the people who elected him?

Black and Hispanic prejudice against Asian immigrants (Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese) has pretty much shoved the latter group into the default category of `white’, IMHO.
Will a conservative candidate really have to practice `big tent’ & `outreach’ politics with Asian American voters?
Anyway, if de Blasio becomes the Democrats’ latter-day Fidel Castro (or Leon Trotsky), then 2016 will be a wild ride such as not seen since the 1968 campaign.
Lenin proved early on that big government didn’t work. But, by killing and imprisoning anyone who dared point it out, he insured that it would not recede for 70 years.

I had the pleasure of attending a Tea Party gathering where the SEIU Obuma sows tried to barge in. They were chased into a building where they locked the doors and cried like little girls for the cops to come rescue them.
You’re right - they left won’t know what to do.
If you think about it, Obama and his minions have already reached their zenith. They are now in the process of trying to keep what they have acquired. One proof of it is in Obama's approval ratings. He has lost the trust of at least 2/3rds of the American public. He can not recover from that. He will drag all of his cohorts down with him. And it will happen faster than they realize.
Make no mistake, the only force that will stop the progressive takeover is blood in the streets and I am not talking about a few lives, but millions. This will be the price of our freedom.
