"Five Things A&E Did Wrong has become the hot parlor game among TV industry execs at holiday get-togethers."

"A rookie mistake. Thats how one TV industry veteran whos put in time dealing with rogue reality stars described A&Es handling of its Duck Dynasty nightmare."

"Someones going to have to back down, said one industry vet, predicting its not going to be the Robertsons. Either [A+E Networks CEO] Nancy [Dubuc] says, This is not the position of the network and we respect Phils religious beliefs, and we all move on from there, or I dont think the show survives on A&E, the source continued.
Theyre going to have to apologize, agreed another. If they want them back, theyre going to have to eat crow. Theyll probably do it right after Christmas. Look for a note sometime over the next week and a half."

I can’t see the Robertsons apologizing. They don’t need A&E and they will do very well almost wherever they do end up and whichever network takes them will also do very well, not to mention that, even without a tv contract, their business has revenues of more than $40 million annually.
It wasn’t a “rookie” mistake it was pandering to the Gaymafia, which was a knee-jerk-loyal-to-the-cause reaction, but it was not a newbie thing to do. After all Angus Jones was fired from “2 and a Half Men” a few years ago for stating the facts about the filth of the show. He’s virtually disappeared which is too bad. He was replaced by a lesbian character.
No, the gays TV and movie execs practice this stuff.
Actually that’s article is the best most rational analysis of this whole situation I’ve seen
Translation: “These hicks got too big for their britches and actually have people believing their Jesus crap. A&E should have just produced another Kardashian show and no one would have been the wiser. Now the freaks in flyover land are gonna start questioning the other reality shows out there and hurt our overall bottom line.”
It wasn’t a rookie mistake. It was a calculated effort to appease the pink mafia. They just didn’t count on the rest of America getting so ticked off!
That was the rookie mistake.
The “NO” votes on the poll have hit 90%.
What I take from the whole DD debacle is that the entertainment business doesn’t understand the Roberson family, Southerns or people who believe in traditional values. No surprise there.
I also think that the A&E executives still don’t get it. They are probably sitting around saying to themselves, “what the hell just happen?”
Agree... I thought the article was right on target.
I still think A&E’s new CEO is gonna end up parking cars in the parking lot before this is all over. Will take a little time, but they’ll show her the door. Uou can’t take over a network and lose cable televisions all time #1 rated television show.
The “rogue” reference gives it away...
Just checked the TV lineup, an dtomorrows “Duck Dynasty Christmas Marathons” sure looks just like A & E’s regular Wednesday programming.
They always run back to back episodes for several hours, about 3 times a week.
Heh.

A&E will have to apologize to the Robertsons for what they have done. The Robertsons should graciously accept that apology, then move to another network.
That's certainly largely true. On another, and to me more significant, level, they are "Christophobic." A&E's immediate response was to the effect that "we are suspending Phil because we've always supported the queers." No mention at all of ever supporting the Christians.
I think many potential reality shows will think twice before going on A&E. This is something they aren’t going to easily get past. A lot of mea culpa is going to happen before this is fixed.
I was rather proud of Angus Jones.
Me, too. He seems to have gotten shoved aside, though. Christians sure didn’t back him up that much.
