So sell, or take a reverse mortgage. I don’t see where the public should pay, leaving the estate untouched. If you’re broke your broke, but don’t expect the public to pay so that Junior can still inherit.

The elimination of inherited wealth is a plank of communism.

Why should the kids get the assets?

Why should people who have no assets, either by being poor, or by spending every penny on new cars, new clothes though out life, get the same or better care FREE courtesy the US taxpayer, and not have a worry in the world?

FUBAR system, will either become more oppressive, or catastrophically fail.

You can live in a house that your grandparents built, on land that your grand-grandparents purchased. How much do that house and that land cost? A lot of money; but that’s just numbers on paper. If you don’t work the land you can be poor enough to get the “free” medical insurance.

_________________

It is not medical insurance, it is healthcare. They are very slippery about their presentation. They are offering a dumbed down expensive medical insurance for those who can pay for it and its outrageous deducables.

They are offering “healthcare” welfare for the rest and that, baby, gets paid back by by liquidating assets. That age 55, that is movable. Easily. by Fiat.

The costs of insurance? That is totally controlled by the leftist government and can toss lots of people onto “healthcare” and strip assets. This is a win win for the government and the healthcare/industrial complex.

There will be no middle class. Ever again.

Welcome to the peasant class, peons.

People who contact health.gov are being pushed on to Medicaid without their knowledge or assent, and once on it they cannot get off. The safeguards in place in state Medicaid agencies are not given in the Obamacare enrollment.

Medicaid comes out of your paycheck, too. It's all entitlements. Regardless of a little box on your W2.

I'm sorry, but I see nothing wrong with this.

What is wrong is not the deal, but the way it is sold. People sign up thinking that this is minimal government healthcare and are then guilt tripped by hospitals and doctors into requesting services without knowing the full financial implications.

I’m all for ending the entire SS and Medicare farce.
Stop separate deductions, pay for it out of general revenue, means test the elderly, acknowledge it’s welfare for the old and be done with it.

Their CHOICE of buying their own medical insurance that might cover their expenses AND allow them to pass their assets to heirs has been taken away.

I read this here before and read the article at the link which says :

The government has long been permitted to seek reimbursement for healthcare services by attaching the assets of deceased Medicaid enrollees” but I am skeptical about this without more details.

Exactly under what circumstances has this happened?

Medicaid denies payments to those with financial assets.

Exactly! Let’s stop pretending that these programs are in the black - if someone is elderly and has NO means of support, then it is welfare...which is something that a compassionate society should offer, primarily thru family, then the private sector and the church, and lastly thru government programs.

I understand the desire of people to leave their estates to their own children, but maybe if this whole issue had been brought to the forefront earlier, people would have been more eager to reform Medicare/Medicaid years ago!

My kids should not have to be on the hook for the medical expenses of seniors who have assets, simply so their baby boomer kids can get more money to squander!

Socialism Is Legal Plunder - Bastiat (don’t believe him? Look at your paycheck and calculate the taxes still paid with the money you are left with after the government has taken its large share upfront for the socialist schemes)…

…and now they want more…and more…and more.

Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. - Bastiat

Repeal the lie, “Affordable”? “Care”? “Act”? TOTALITARIANCARE is FORCE, the key component of a tyrannical government.

From link:

•The State should notify Medicaid recipients about the estate recovery program during their initial application for Medicaid eligibility and annual re-determination process.
•The State must notify affected survivors about the initiation of estate recovery and give them an opportunity to claim an exemption based on hardship.
•The State must establish procedures and criteria to waive recovery if it would cause undue hardship.

Correct, the Fed MBS bond Qe buying, and sister estate insurers, as term notes are coming due can all sell the Medicaid estate overload and still pay their term note holders, attempt to secure the treasury, even with deflation/unemployment.

The entire 2008 bailout benefactors all still untouched as Qe is eliminated.

Next up we forsee, even if totally out of the Extortion-ProtectionCare Racket scam, checkmark the 1040 boxes, and they automatically use the information to Medicaid. This is what is not being warned about!

Don’t bet on it, I know some people who are land poor.

They own land they can hardly pay the taxes on and do not want to sell it off to pay taxes.

EVERY ONE of these socialist schemes is built on the backs of DEAD Americans. A tax levied for the creation of a socialist scheme is not sustainable unless more FORCED payers die. The ghoulish socialists are about forcing plunder. Now they’ve included death sentences and looting the graves of the deceased.

Socialist schemes at the bottom in red…here…

If people think what hospitals charge for say, aspirin and band aids is outrageous now, imagine what these estates will be billed for the "free healthcare". A veritable pot of gold awaits at the end of the death panel.

Asset forfeiture blood lust.
