Snowden reflects on his goals in a wide-ranging interview with the Washington Post
Edward Snowden has gloated that by exposing the National Security Agency (NSA) to public scrutiny, his mission was already accomplished.
In a series of interviews with the Washington Post, Snowden expressed satisfaction with his decision to leak classified documents to the press. He said his only concern in the months leading up to the decision was public apathy, but that the reaction he received has since allayed all of his concerns. I already won, he said.

Under Bush 43, the media blamed, personally, Bush and Rumsfeld...sometimes John Ashcroft or Alberto Gonzalez.....today, with the Clown occupying the Oval Office and Eric the Red at DOJ, the media has NEVER HELD THEM RESPONSIBLE....it is ALWAYS Edward Snowden or "the NSA" or some faceless bureaucrat.
Another thing: we had CONSTANT and INCESSANT coverage of Abu Ghrab....not on the leaked video or pics, but what ACTUALLY HAPPENED and analysis about how these revelations would HURT the United States.
Today, such coverage is noticeably lacking.
Liberal media.
I know, exactly. Just what did Snowden uncover? I haven’t seen anything of any real substance out of the “millions of documents”. I mean, seriously, “millions”? And the most he got is that the NSA is saving my phone # or some other BS about emails? No, what is going on the here is the Marxist propaganda machine posing as our impartial media is picking and choosing what to show us as to not embarrass the King Kenyan. If this was Bush, these “millions of documents” would be hanging on every giant sized billboard in America.

This surveillance was supposed to be for "terrorist" finding purposes.
Will they knock on my door because I said fags were pervs??
cuz I called the two guys who robbed my 90 year old mother at gunpoint the N word??
There is absolutely no reason for this invasion of privacy. "To be secure in their papers....
Still classify Snowden as a traitorous SOB who should be tried and summarily executed. He may have uncovered a significant invasion of Americans’ privacy, but his methods, plus his ultimate escape to Russia brand him as the scoundrel he truly is.
Bingo.
And you really have to be an idiot not to grasp the significance.
If there is anyone to whom this statement seems like an attack I will not apologize for the statement is fully justified.
Yes I see what you are saying but I think it’s gone much worse than that and our fascist run media is refusing to report on it. #1 is election fraud. Our election system is completely compromised which is why absolute scumb*gs keep getting elected. Just look at the last POTUS election: Before the election rolled around, just about everyone was against Obama. 90% of reader comments in every newspaper in this country was against Obama, yet Obama wins. Everyone knew he was an absolute disaster, I live in New York city one of the most liberal cities on the east coast, and all my lib friends said they didn’t vote for him again, yet he wins!
SHUT DOWN UDC, UTAH DATA CENTER.
traitorous? May have?
I’ll contend, even IF he were to be on the kill list, there are FAR more egregious players in Congress, the courts and the media that fit your view (and should be thus put down) far more readily than some ‘low-life’ (as they call him) that fled from Fedzilla/big gov’t (whom CAN take ones’ Life and Liberty).
IE: Your angst and hatred are a bit misplaced.
Coverage may be lacking in dead-tree newspapers and the Big 3 networks, but believe me, it is not lacking in the Twittersphere where all the Millenials now have their knickers in a perpetual knot over this.
The situation begs the question:
How many more “Snowdens” are there/ were there?
Big Gov needs to kill Snowden to stop the exposure but can’t be obvious about it. Snowden will be found dead from a drug overdose or similar.
There is an undercurrent among other demographics, too.
When people I barely know complain of their slow connections, I’ve made it a habit to mutter, “Probably the NSA”. Any age, socioeconomic level, education, there is a response of eye contact, tightened lips and eyes and brief head nods.
Snowden was right to fear apathy and, IMO, he has won because there is very little of that left. There are plenty of pro-0 comments at the source and some defenses of Snowden, but not one “meh”.
How can one be a traitor to a totalitarian regime that is destroying our Constitution?
No he won’t. At least not until the jug-eared moron begains to be blamed for all of this snooping on Americans, which of course the media will deflect. The POS hasn’t been effected in the least by ANY of the outrageous things he’s done... Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the use of the IRS against political opponents, the destruction of millions of peoples’ insurance plans, the chronically umemployed, etc.
Wow, I did not know that. Are they correctly associating their loss of privacy with Obamugabe?
Most likely IMO he chose Russia because America's influence and reach there is minimal. The Fedgov won't bribe or intimidate Russia, and he's safe from a drone strike there.
Are you kidding? They should rip that Freedom Medal off Hillary and pin it on Snowden. If it was not for him the NSA would be cheerfully continuing their unconstitutional practices without scrutiny. Now the courts and lawmakers are getting involved.
Agreed. His conduct suggests that he fears justice and seeks to hide amongst criminals. That and it doesnt help that he’s gone against proper functions of the NSA (their functions in foreign countries).
It would be premature for him to declare anything of that nature. Eventually, he will be brought to to trial in the US and the evidence will not be favorable to him. The best luck that he’ll have is that he gets an (effective) life sentence. He hasn’t won anything if he can’t successfully defend himself in a court of law in the US.
That individual crossed the line when he substituted his judgment for the many others that were involved in collecting and using that information - however good or bad.
The only valid purpose for Snowden in Russia is to help the US obtain Russian secrets.
It’s amazing to me how many “conservatives” are OK with the Government shredding the 4th via the NSA.
The American people are not the enemy.
I see what you're saying, but there are several things to consider:
voting for the other side).
driveto eliminate/punish corruption.
