This graphic from Woods Hole in Massachusetts one of the worlds top ocean science institutions shows how much more cesium was dumped into the sea off Japan from Fukushima as compared to nuclear testing and Chernobyl [above]:
The Canadian government has confirmed in October that Fukushima radiation will exceed levels higher than maximum fallout from the nuclear tests.
The party line from the Japanese, Canadian and American governments are that these are safe levels of radiation. Given that those countries have tried to ban investigative journalism and have tried to cover up the scope of the Fukushima disaster, people may want to investigate for ourselves.

fyi - now I have to find out what a “hot particle” is... :)
Hysteria! The Fukushima readings were taken immediately offshore from the incident. The Chernobyl and Bikini measurement were taken from hundreds of miles away, hence the lower level readings. And one “particle” means they can count a single emission of an alpha, beta or gamma ray. Hardly something to be concerned with.
I agree. The media and the hair on fire folk love a good nuclear disaster.
That said, the arrogance of the Japanese and their superiority complex allowed this mess to happen.
How old is that video?Judging from the streaming news banner at the bottom,I’d say pretty old.
I always get my scientific papers from Zero Hedge. Especially when the papers use Wikipedia as a source.
The Fukushima reactor was practically sitting in the surf, while Chenobyl's is something like 1,000 miles from the ocean, so that comparison is a bit pointless.
In general, the Fukishima event as not an airborne release of radiation.

The author claims the graph is from Woods Hole. That's a pretty reputable research organization - is it not?
A good example of lying with statistics.
There was no significant airborne release of radiation from Fukishima as there was from the nuclear bomb tests or the Chernobyl disaster so the actual total volume of radioactive materials released into the environment were much higher for the nuclear tests or especially Chernobyl compared to Fukishima.
Virtually all of the release was in water that leaked into the Fukishima Bay or was pumped into the bay to cool the reactors. As such the radiation was highly concentrated in the leaked water and the elevation of Cesium was effect very localized to the Fukishima Bay.
As a reality check, here is a report from Oct 13 2013 that shows that the water contamination at the mouth of Fukishima Harbor, which is directly adjacent to the damaged reactors, may be reaching what are considered upper limits for normal Cesium 134 and 137 radiation in water.

The ocean is a big place and Cesium 134/137 levels in Tokyo Harbor may be slightly elevated, but I doubt there is even much of a measurable elevation in Tokyo, much less all around the world.
Also note that the measurement threshold ( the ability to detect even the slightest level of radioactive Cesium) is really not that low - on the order of 10% of what is considered the the “safe” or normal levels for background radiation.
I would really like to see the tracking number for radioactive Cesium right off the landing of the Woods Hole Research Center to determine the world wide impact of Fukishima.
I seriously doubt there has been a measurable increase.
The chart is useless due to the metrics used.

From the article:
“The scientists found elevated levels of the nuclear by-product cesium but they were below the threshold of concern for direct human exposure. The levels of cesium had diminished quickly off shore because cesium is soluble in seawater and was therefore diluted by the Pacific ocean currents.”
Scary headline designed to close-down a safe form of power and enrich plaintiffs lawyers. Fukushima: 0; Chappaquiddick: 1.
This has created a low level plume of radiation that has spread and, among other locations, is actually nearing the Eastern US Coast.
Very diluted levels but that poison tends to bio-accumulate in sea life getting more concentrated as it nears the apex predators like tuna, swordfish, salmon, and all those tasty fish and crustaceans we generally like to eat.
Yeah, but Fukushima’s been the gift that keeps on giving...
Nothing like a critic by Freepers to beat the truth out of something like this. lol

The article above shows the highest levels of radioactive Cesium at the mouth of Fukishima Harbor, directly adjacent to the reactor leaks, have begun to approach 7.3 becquerels with the “safe” limit of continous radiation exposure being determined 10 becquerels. The minimum measurable levels for the state of the art radiation testing equipment ate at 1.1 becquerels for Cs 134 and 0.9 becquerels for Cs 137.
This is less than a factor of 10 - not 10,000 or 100,000 as reported. Remember, this is directly offshore from the damaged reactors and so the concentrations will be rapidly and drastically reduced by dilution as the water leaves the shallow bay and enters the vast and deep ocean at large.
Send a request for Cs 134 and 137 tracking numbers of the water right off the landing at Woods Hole research center. I about they will reply, or have even done so because it would be a waste of time that shows minimal impact.
Has anyone begun a systematic survey and analysis of sea food around the pacific basin with respect to the sea water flows around Japan and the basin?
It also speaks of folks on the West Coast of America breathing in “hot particles”. I’m assuming that would mean alpha-emitters? One of the big problems with determining dangers is the withholding of data from the government who in all likelihood, after years and years of study and billions spent, knows but is hindered by bureaucrat channels from releasing.
You're missing a few deaths since man begin studying nuclear fission. And your "safe power" could one day end the ascension of mankind on this planet.
Just sayin'...
