The suspension of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson by the A&E Network after making controversial remarks in GQ magazine regarding homosexuality has been called a business decision. But now Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller is making a business decision of his own.
Miller announced on his personal Facebook page Friday night that A&E would no longer be welcomed to film or produce any of its programs or series with the help of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office or its facilities. "A&E has suspended Phil Robertson for talking about his conservative Christian beliefs," Miller wrote." None of us are without sin and I am not judging anyone. I am sure A&E made what they believe is a good business decision. Many people who disagree with A&E might choose to remain silent and there was a time when I might have done the same, but no longer. In my mind the punishment is unreasonable.
"I know it will not matter to A&E, but it will make me feel better. A&E has produced more than a half dozen programs with the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. They will not do any more with my assistance while I am sheriff. It is time for someone other than Hollywood and the news media to stand up for what is right!"

Reminds me of that knee-jerk computer backup company that pulled out of Rush’s show.
Are they still in business?
His comments describing the reality of Man on Man Anal Sex were said to be Vile, but the act itself isn’t?
It’s like describing Late Term Abortion to a Liberal.
They hate hearing what it entails, but they support it nonetheless.
I watched Greta on Fox and she made a point to call Phil’s descriptions Vile and she would not repeat them.
Her inner Lib surfaced with this story.
Sorry but you are misinformed. The Sheriff has no responsibility to provide security. It is the responsibility of A&E to provide their own security and if something goes wrong then the Sheriff can act or arrest. If property and/or injury occurs it falls on A&E.
Ah, okay.
That makes sense.
...”Phil Robertson’s sin was that he told the truth about the male homosexual lifestyle without all the fuzzy, feel good aura the liberals like to use describing male gayness that is, anal sex”...
Exactly right. As strange as it may seem, I am sure there are people out there who do not know what homosexual sex is all about.
Since we're talking hypothetical situations, there can be a benefit that could accrue to the taxpayers of the county. The location filming could encourage tourism or dollars from other sources to come into the County.
...”In Summary
It is clear that there are serious medical consequences to same-sex behavior. Identification with a GLB community appears to lead to an increase in promiscuity, which in turn leads to a myriad of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and even early death. Youth should be warned of the undeniable health risks associated with a homosexual lifestyle”...
This is pretty scary stuff and should be taught in middle school health class.
Phil has been saying these things publicly for many years, so A & E is indeed being a bit disingenuous when they act like it’s news to them. What’s different is Phil’s comments were printed in Gentlemens Quarterly, a “Men’s Fashion” magazine.
A big “DUH” about who their readers are.
Carbonite. Yeah, still in business but their competitors really got a shot in the arm over what they did on Rush’s show. I think they were one of the few he refused to allow back on.
I made several subsequent comments concerning the Sheriff’s responsibility. There’s “security” and there’s “public safety.” He cannot shirk the latter, it would run afoul of the Equal Protections clause of the 14th Amendment. That’s what I was talking about. He can’t look the other way if people commit crimes against the A & E production crew.
More than likely, it’s done on a contract basis, outside of scheduled work hours. If the sheriff’s department drops everything to protect Gay&E crews filming television shows, it’s the people of his county who receive inferior protection.
Good points that you made after your OP on this.
Life is loaded with trade-offs.
That said, I am certain that IF the taxpayers of this particular county have a problem with the actions of Sheriff Miller, I’m sure that they will let him know about it.
Please note that by and large, it is the Sheriff’s across the country that are telling the gun-grabbers to piss off. They are doing so with their constituents’ approval.
Agreed.

I agree with every word of that. I'm sure the citizens of the County have been in close communication with that Sheriff since this whole kerfuffle started, and this statement is a result of that. Sounds like a pretty good Sheriff to me.
Agreed!
If I were the CEO of A&E, I would most certainly not be above such shenanigans.;-)
It's a win-win scenario.
Phil gets the Gospel out there, A&E shows it's sensitive to GLAAD (but only temporarily since they will soon reinstate Phil), the gays and conservative get a chance to rant and rave, folks who have never heard of DD now know enough to tune in, and loyal fans buy up existing merchandise in a show of support.
Phil's comments were "graphic"...but the act itself is what is "vile."
Even high-profile homosexuals are arming themselves with 10-foot-poles to touch this one.
They want no part of this whole thing, now that A & E drew all this attention. I’m quite sure a bunch of the knee-jerks jumped all over A & E when they got their latest GQ, but the more thoughtful ones said, “No effing way are we going to remind people what it is we do.”
The only folks stupid enough to jump into the fray so far are the idiots at Cracker Barrel.
