I guess the Sheriff can do what he wants, but if it means providing inferior public safety when it comes to the A & E crew, he’s treading on some legal thin ice.

Sorry but you are misinformed. The Sheriff has no responsibility to provide security. It is the responsibility of A&E to provide their own security and if something goes wrong then the Sheriff can act or arrest. If property and/or injury occurs it falls on A&E.

I made several subsequent comments concerning the Sheriff’s responsibility. There’s “security” and there’s “public safety.” He cannot shirk the latter, it would run afoul of the Equal Protections clause of the 14th Amendment. That’s what I was talking about. He can’t look the other way if people commit crimes against the A & E production crew.
