I’d lay 10-1 odds that the guy wasn’t thinking about his vehicle, but his wife. Had he been solo, I seriously doubt the guy would have risked his life against 4 armed thugs.

That is just ridiculous. Other articles I’ve read stated that they shot the man after they had his Ranger and were driving away. Someone’s trying to blame the victim and mitigate the criminals’ guilt (yet another “murder gone wrong” story)-they murdered that man in cold blood, just like the Australian baseball player.
