"I envy Obama because he can spy on his allies without any consequences," said Putin when asked about how his relations had changed with the US following Snowdens espionage revelations.
During an annual question-and-answer session with journalists, Putin praised Edward Snowdens actions, saying that he was working for a noble cause. At the same time he accepted the importance of espionage programs in the fight against global terrorism, but said the NSA needed guidelines to limit its powers.
There is nothing to be upset about and nothing to be proud of, spying has always been and is one of the oldest professions, said Putin.
Referring to the vast amounts of metadata gathered on citizens by the NSA, Putin said it is impossible to sift through all of that information. It is useless to look at the analysis of spy agencies because it is the opinion of analysts and not facts and as such can be misleading.
You need to know the people who analyze them, I know, I did it, said Putin, harking back to his career as a KGB agent.
The Russian president described Snowden as a curious character and said it was not clear why the former CIA contractor had decided to blow the whistle on the NSAs international espionage program at such a young age.
Russia is not working with Snowden and has not received classified documents from him, Putin said. The whistleblower has been allowed to reside in Russia but only on the condition he does not engage in anti-American propaganda.

My apology 1rudeboy.
Churchill's words are just as true today, as they were back then....
"I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest."
I am not daring anyone to be foolish, but hand and long guns are as good as forks in this new tech climate.
Especially when we can stay content to peck out our troubles on the internet.
Hell, Republicans and conservatives alike can’t even bring themselves to jerk their own children out of public schools. LOL! Sports, don’tcha know, and all that.
The wellspring crushing the USA for two generations at least, is the public school.
Obama politics is better?
May or may not be absolute. I for one never count out Americans because they are me and mine and yours.
Give it up ... don’t make many of US angry.
Let's face it . . . we are stuck with Obama. That doesn't mean we need to admire someone who Obama aspires to be.
Fair warning ...
5 and 10, up thread, is the the Putin message, in spades.
The people are ripe now, for more coming if we can not stop even the outrageous.

neither, pronoun
not the one and not the other of two people or things
They WERE Americans. Now we live off their reputations and the history of our forefathers and our elders, but WE are doing basically nothing but filling chat rooms.
We are diffused. Putin has noticed it.
So have I.
Dear Mr. Putin :
Obama can do anything and get away with it.
He supplied guns to Mexican cartels. He sent guns to anti-Christian rebel Al Qaeda.
He took the sanctions off Iran
He is taking a 2 week vacation in Hawaii while the rest of us get screwed by Obamacare.
He homosexualized our Military.
He has killed more soldier in Afghanistan than ever got killed in Iran, and the media no longer keeps score like they did for Bush.
Now his suck butts Ryan and Murray are going to phuck over our retired soldiers retirement benefits. Right here at Christmas too.
NO ... sorry Rita ... NOT TRUE!!! Guess again.
Some among us are so desperate about their patriotism that they must say to themselves that Putin is worse than Obama. I don’t know that any country’s leader could be worse. Worse for their own country. Read Daniel Henninger in today’s WSJ.
Name one.
Still Love Ice Cream.
People are foolish to EVER believe ANYTHING he says.
Russia has not received classified info from Snowden? Riiiiiiight.
As my grandmother used to say, pound on the table, and the scissors will speak back. (That was when scissors were all metal, not this recent plastic handle crap.)
At best putin has a guess ... and only a guess.
