My, this is an unpleasant consequence of Obamacare.
Tiberius returns!
Actually, Medicaid rules have allowed this for at least 30 years that I know of.
The real political damage to Democrats will be when their soccer mom constituency can’t get their kid’s Ritalin prescription renewed.
Oregon has already reversed this for new Expanded Medicaid enrollees. Washington State will by the end of the year. Both can still pursue Medicaid Estate Recovery against long-term care.
not unpleasant at all, when most of us die, our bills are paid.
What bank account?
A little bit of this tyranny should be self correcting.
Mom/Dad on medicaid, please go ahead and get that reverse mortgage on the house and have the checks sent to me so the govt doesn’t get everything.
But it’s supposed to be free! FREE FREE FREE! /s
Absolutly, I had a cousin that was on Medical and to keep the family assets from being confiscated when he died, his mother cut him out of her will and left all his share to his kids so the State wouldn’t get it.
Does this apply to those without social security numbers?
LOL, ged ouda here...
I had some in-laws back in the 70s that had to hide some assets. Young and dumb I let them put money in my account. And then I got stuck with a tax bill. Learned my lesson early in life.
Nice to see your name here Dale. Hope all is going good for you.
You are correct. This is a useful tool that prevents those who are able to pay from scamming the system.
Thanks PSIMan
“You are correct. This is a useful tool that prevents those who are able to pay from scamming the system.”
The government steals $100 from you, and you hide $10 from them so they can’t steal that, and you are a scammer.
I’m a net tax payer, and I want all my money back from the government, by any means, minus a tiny portion for a few legitimate government expenditures. Anything that is distribution of wealth is not legitimate.
Is an Obamacare “subsidy” considered Medicaid? The wife & I were planning early retirement (age 57 or so), and we budgeted for a $5K deductible catastrophic plan (we pay everything under $5K) at $220./mo...I checked “CoveredCA” and the cheapest Obamacare plan is $940./mo. but comes with an $860./mo. subsidy based on our “after-retirement” income. I know there is Medicaid “claw-back” for people between age 55 & 65.
My pleasure. It takes a brave man to speak the truth sometimes, but if we can’t face the facts as they are then we are no better than the Marxists.
