As 2013 slouches toward 2014, the political numbers for President Obama just keep getting worse. And you guessed it much of that has to do with the Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare.
A new AP-GfK poll shows major doubts about Obamas signature legislative achievement. Most troubling for the administration, thats not just among those needing to sign up for new coverage through the HealthCare.gov website.
Perhaps more politically significant, Americans who will continue to get healthcare coverage through their employers blame Obama's healthcare overhaul for their rising premiums and deductibles, according to this poll.
Among the findings: 69 percent say their premiums will be going up, 59 percent say annual deductibles or copayments are increasing, just 21 percent said their plan is expanding to cover more types of medical care, 14 percent said coverage for spouses is being restricted or eliminated, and 11 percent said their plan is being discontinued.
"Rightly or wrongly, people with private insurance looking at next year are really worried about what is going to happen," Robert Blendon, a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health who tracks public opinion on health care issues, told the Associated Press. "The website is not the whole story."
Meanwhile, a portion of the US population critical to success of the ACA the millennial generation (those 18-29) is no longer as enthusiastic about Obama as it was when he won re-election last year. Far from it, in fact.
According to a year-end USA TODAY/Pew Research Center Poll, millennials now split evenly on Obamas job performance. Just 45 percent view him favorably here (46 percent unfavorably), far less than the 67 percent job approval rating among this age group that he enjoyed at the beginning of the year.

translate into fewer votes for leftist lying politicos.
“translate into fewer votes for leftist lying politicos. “
The liberals I know will vote Democrat no matter what. I was told a few weekends ago, “I’ll never vote for a Republican because of their stand on ‘reproductive freedom.’” (Abortion.)
The same idiots who put Obama in this time will still vote Democrat.
We may pick up a few, but in the meantime the GOPE is destroying its credibility among Conservatives.
Too bad they didn’t wise up 14 months ago.its too late now.
Doesn't matter.
They'll vote for the next rat who runs. They're too stupid to do otherwise.
For some reason, that reminds me of another weird phrase we used to hear all the time: HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Oh, I remember yet another one: President Reagan's "Star Wars" missile defense plan.
Eventually, the media settles on what they believe to be the correct "framing" language. It usually sounds stupid and contrived.
so what??? he doesn't need them anymore... what difference does it make now
I hope this miserable evil bastard and every Democrat who voted for this bill are removed from office by ballot or impeachment.
They all deserve it.
At a time when Conservatism is screaming to be presented to the people, and those people are optimally prepared to hear it...
CRICKETS!
This truth thrust upon you by the RNC
New tagline...
“As 2013 slouches toward 2014....”
Well I very much happen to feel this same way, slouching along. But I wonder if the boy wonder was riding high in the polls if this author would have described things this same way.
Ace of Spades was right, Obama is the hero of their story, anything that’s happening is just the “mcguffin”, unimportant except insofar as it affects their protagonist.
Ill never vote for a Republican because of their stand on” abortion.
How sad! They would see the entire nation run into fiscal ruin (for example) just so that inconvenient babies could be executed instead of adopted?
well . . . my question: are these people you know boomers or middle-aged? I know some like that, middle-aged. Would never get an abortion themselves [too old now to worry about it! HA!] but have accepted that the right to do so is some type of sacrament. : (
I have the impression that younger people are more pro-life than some older aged groups.
65 or so, retired, childless professionals. Saved the world by not having kids.
“childless” . . .
I guess that explains why they don’t worry about the financial colllapse of society — their kids and grandkids won’t have to pay for it and pick up the pieces. : (
The RNC is killing themselves.
They are sucking up to the Chamber of Commerce which also donates to the Democrats.
They are attacking their base and sending us crap to be candidates.
He isn't offering anyone a deal. His business plan makes absolutely no sense. And his website is not "https" worthy.
If Obama were selling cell phone plans, how do you think he would do?
When every other company is going no contract and trying to entice its prospects with a lower price than its competitor, Obama is trying to fool people into buying an inferior product that costs more. It is true that he did give away free phones but really, how did that help his business plan?
Americans may not score the highest in science and math, but they are savvy and will walk away from any deal that is not affordable. They also want the highest quality possible.
But then again, too bad the American ability to smell a rat in a business transaction didn't work when 51% of them voted for Obama in the first and second place.
So, Obamacare has missed its only momentum. And lucky for us no one is buying.
Agreed...
It’s up to us locally to try to counter that, but good luck.
These are the same people who would also drive the country into ruin so their gay friends could adopt somebody else's inconvenient babies.
