China landed an unmanned spacecraft on the moon on Saturday, state media reported, in the first such "soft-landing" since 1976, joining the United States and the former Soviet Union in managing to accomplish such a feat.
The Chang'e 3, a probe named after a lunar goddess in traditional Chinese mythology, is carrying the solar-powered Yutu, or Jade Rabbit buggy, which will dig and conduct geological surveys.

While the Chinese are investing in their space program, we’re “investing” in welfare programs so that we can enlarge the ranks of the tax-takers currently living off the efforts of the tax-payers, some of whom are taking note of the revised cost-benefit calculation and turning into tax-takers themselves. GWB is a moron for eliminating the bottom tax brackets. That was the closest thing we had to a property requirement for voting, and he took it away. I used to make excuses for the guy, but every time I think of another of his stupid policies, I just can’t help shaking my head at the paucity of talent in the GOP.
Might be because it’s a bloated Unconstitutional department who’s job/ideals/etc. the private sector can do better and cheaper?!
Returning the ‘favor’: I’m constantly amazed as the supposed (C) leaning of those who make excuses for the bloated size and power of gov’t.
Hopefully the ChiComs hired a westerner to remotely drive that thing.

You mean like how the private sector did a better job than NASA in sending men to the Moon? Or how the private sector is doing such a bang up job sending probes to other planets? Oh, wait,,,they haven’t done those things. Why? Because beyond putting a satellite up, the private sector couldn’t care less about space exploration. But don’t fret. NASA will soon be nothing but ancient history, as will this countries accomplishments in space exploration. Outer space belongs to China as we curl up in the fetal position.
While I acknowledge the chinese accomplishment,
I also want everyone to know that it’s NOT unmanned.
There are three chinese guys in that thing, one to
drive, one to power the wheels and the third operates
the wok.
It’s upside down!
“The future of space is private.”
Yeah, when is that?
The Chinese will deliver alright, but it won’t be Chinese food!
A great big thank you to Bernie Schwartz and Bill Clinton.
