The Opponents Of Obamacare Are Completely Missing The Point
Forbes ^ | DEc 13, 2013 | Peter Schwartz

The state declares that it knows what is best for “society as a whole.” You may conscientiously monitor your diet or set aside money for your retirement—but what about the people who don’t? The code of altruism demands that the “haves” sacrifice for the “have-nots”—i.e., that the responsible sacrifice for the irresponsible, the ambitious for the indolent, the rational for the irrational.

The same premise of self-sacrifice underlies ObamaCare.

Any individual’s interests are to be subordinated to an indefinable “public interest”—which simply means: some people must suffer so that others might benefit.

All they care about is that everyone sacrifice–and that the resulting misery be shared equally by all.

ObamaCare, like other “entitlement” programs, denies the individual’s sovereignty over his own life and property. So it is not enough merely to identify it as a redistributionist plan. To fully defeat it, we should reject the core idea that self-sacrifice is our moral duty.

It's an interesting article, but I think the author is the one missing the point -- he is focusing on the "duty of self sacrifice" -- the point is not just that it's NOT our duty, but the main point is that it should NOT be FORCED upon us by the GOVERNMENT.

Persuading people to be altruistic is one thing, but the government mandating that one group of people provide for another group is against human principles of self determination and in addition it encourages irresponsibility.

F involuntary altruism. Completely against Personal Liberty.

Instead of haves and have-nots, substitute the terms, does and do-nothings and things become clearer.

Social justice is made possible by the generation of real wealth. Nothing can be shared unless it is produced. Unfortunately the proponents of government mediated redistribution schemes are inherently hostile to productive capitalism that generates wealth. When they come to power( as they have now), they pass rules, regulations and high taxes that stall capitalism. Eventually they cannot borrow any more money and the massive printing becomes very detrimental. The Obama economy is essentially a Ponzi scheme which will crash and cause immense suffering.

Bill of No Rights

By Lewis Napper

http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles/napper56.html

‘ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we’re just not interested in public health care.

....

ARTICLE X: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness—which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an overabundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.”

“...the main point is that it should NOT be FORCED upon us by the GOVERNMENT.”

Isn’t that what he’s saying? He’s saying that sacrificing for others is not our duty AND the government should not force us to do so.

I totally agree with him.

Ah, but the treacherous pirate Roberts does not agree. He has granted little barry bastard boy the right to order you that way.

The author is focusing on the concept of “self-sacrifice”:

“The same premise of self-sacrifice underlies ObamaCare. “

When in fact the real problem is not the “promotion” of self sacrifice, but the fact that the government is COMPELLING it, and people have no choice.

Obamacare is a case study in a leftist syllogism.

By judicial decree the left succeeds in compelling hospitals to treat the impecunious. That requires hospitals to seek compensation for the cost of treating those patients who do not pay from those patients who do pay and, inevitably, hospitals raise prices across the board.

Now the leftists return to the scene of their crime and say that the increased cost of health care means that government must intervene to compel those who obtain treatment to first obtain insurance because that equitably spreads the cost-a cost which was generated by a requirement of treatment in the first place.

We see the same phenomenon occurring with college tuitions in which leftist state legislatures require that colleges educate even illegal aliens at preferred rates. Inevitably, those who do pay for college educations, those who are citizens of the states and of the country, must pay more to compensate. Inevitably, the federal government proposes to take over the funding of college education and that smells a lot like Obamacare to me.

Similarly, when the courts require that our schools educate illegal aliens the same dynamic occurs. Now, not just because of this requirement but for a multitude of leftist interventions, the malaise in our school system is sought to be corrected by federal takeover of education under the rubric, "common core." One final thought about the Forbes article, the idea of "sacrifice" is very much part of the leftist catechism. It has to do with the submission of the individual to the group. Obama has been trained in the Saul Alinsky school to advocate this submission because he knows that for a percentage of those who submit there will be an epiphany of sorts. He makes the appeal for collective salvation over and over. Obama knows they will feel invigorated and integrated. That is the soul of leftism and explains why the foot soldiers stay in an irrational party. That explains How the Bloods and the Crips recruit and hold their members. It is through and emotional release obtained when one submits.

Once the phenomenon of submission and psychic reward is in play, it is as nothing to shackle the individual to Obamacare.

“When in fact the real problem is not the “promotion” of self sacrifice, but the fact that the government is COMPELLING it, and people have no choice.”

It’s both - the endless guilt trips foisted on the public by the elite and the media softens up the populace to accepting the idea that it is their duty to sacrifice for others, thus making it much easier for the government to then mandate that “sacrifice”.

If people hadn’t been “guilted” into the concept of self-sacrifice for “others” through endless media promotion of it, it would have been much tougher to pass Obamacare and all the other redistributive programs.

Misery shared by all? What a load of poo. Obama, Congresscritters, and staff, just to name a few that are not sharing the current misery of the citizens who are loosing their health insurance, doctors, and hospitals.

Alturistic? Well that’s the lipstick that they try to put on this pig. In reality it’s just another tax scheme that allows the politicians to get their greedy hands on the productive citizen’s money so that they can skim some off for themselves, and use the rest to bribe the nonproducers into voting for them again.

“Ah, but the treacherous pirate Roberts does not agree. He has granted little barry bastard boy the right to order you that way.”

That was truly a disgusting ruling by Roberts, especially the justification he gave for it, which amounted to “Don’t expect the court to bail out the country from the decision of people you’ve elected”.

This is precisely what the court is supposed to do. For example, if the congress and executive pass a law to curtail free speech, it is absolutely the duty of the court to strike that down and to protect the country and constitution from a runaway congress and executive.

From July 22, 2010 American Thinker demonstrating that Obama’s forced closings of GM dealerships were also about involuntary altruism:

As has been widely reported, the Inspector General’s study skewered the Obama Gang for strong-arming the companies into closing 2,000 dealerships, costing an estimated 100,000 people their jobs during a recession.

But the news media has ignored key elements of Barofsky’s report — elements that are far more damaging, if possible, to Obama. As we reported earlier in the week, a top Obama official, manufacturing czar and “Auto Team” leader Ron Bloom admitted that the dealerships could have been kept open, saving those jobs, “but that doing so would have been inconsistent with the President's mandate for ‘shared sacrifice.’”

Instead of Gun Control, we need Government Control.

Watch it. The last thing we need is government control. As in "as the Secretary shall determine", and the like.

I would reword that: "We don't need to control guns, we need to control government!"

"They" do not apply this sacrifice to themselves.

The equal misery and death panels are for "the little people" (you and I, the tax payers who have our money taken from us).

The taxpayers are forced into death panels and substandard health care, while the elitist class lives extravagant lives, at their expense, and EXEMPTS itself from what it inflicts on the public.

WHEN WILL YOU WAKE UP AMERICA!
