CBS News chairman Jeff Fager held meeting with CBS This Morning staffers Tuesday and took questions about the botched 60 Minutes report, Politicos Dylan Byers reports. Correspondent Lara Logan and her producer Max McClellan are on a leave of absence, following the results of an internal report on their discredited story. Logan was notably absent from Sundays 60 Minutes open...

Amen. At least See BS is taking some action even if they’re just letting things cool down before bringing her back. Meanwhile NBC allows Al Sharpton to engage in unethical practices including using doctored video and lies to try to support his racist positions with no consequences whatsoever.
I’m not sure that Logan actually lied-—she was trying to get the Benghazi story front and center, but then the nasty calls starting coming in to CBS from the White House.
What Lara Logan did was not lying to the public. The main gist of the story that was reported was true, what wasn’t true was some of the details that the guy added to make his role seem more important. The lie involved whether or not he had seen the ambassador’s body at a hospital, later.
The Benghazi story takes on new importance, today, as we learn that the Islamists in Syria have taken over from the Syrian rebels and kicked out the rebels. The Al Qaeda linked Islamists are now in full control of the weapons and supplies that Obama sent to Syria.
On top of that, we heard over the week-end that there is new evidence that Obama manipulated the evidence in Syria to make it look as though the sarin gas attack was carried out by Assad.
The WH making Benghazi radioactive to journalists.
Without have to have been beaten up by the likes of us first. See Dan Rather / GWB National Guard story.
Funny thing was, she was interviewed before the Bengahzi story aired and described the excrutiating lengths CBS goes though to verify.
She stated (correctly) how even a minor falsehood would cause the whole story to be declared worthless.
Remember the book written by Clinton's CIA guard? He declared something minor as true, when it was false and the media suceeded in marginalizing the whole thing; including the important stuff.
Logan / CBS did not want that to happen.
Logan didn’t purposely lie. She is actually one of the more fair leftist reporters in the MSM. The biggest problem is that she came out with a story that made this administration look bad. I see nothing to savor.
Nothing to celebrate.
Exactly. They are making it a deadly “third rail.” Any error could result in firing. Who wants to risk that?
Reporting factually on Benghazi can do serious career damage at ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN etc.
For the average person, this means nothing, as it didn’t get into the nuts and bolts of the story.
Typical.
I think she saw the light after being raped by Islamo facists in Egypt.
“I think she saw the light after being raped by Islamo facists in Egypt.”
I wondered if her promotion to that cushy “60 Minutes” gig had anything to do with her experience in Egypt? CBS has to handle this carefully since only they & Laura Logan know the answer to that — and what if she claims they told her to shut up about Egypt?
I wonder if sympathy for what she went through colored the decision to promote her to a job for which she wasn’t really prepared.
