...Expert Warns Southern California Isn’t Ready For Major Quake

A leading earthquake expert has issued a dire warning to Californians about the expected impact of a major disruption to the San Andreas fault line.

The title of Dr. Lucy Jones’ lecture this week to the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco was “Imagine America without Los Angeles”.

As KCAL9′s Dave Bryan reports, Jones, a Science Advisor for Risk Reduction at the U.S. Geological Survey, says when the “Big One” hits Southern California, the damage could be much greater, and could last much longer, than most of us ever imagined

I saw what a 7.1 did to the Bay Area 100 miles away in ‘89.
The Bay Area isn’t ready either but slightly better than LA.

Just wait until the Mexicans find out that after they “reconquista” something, it will look just like the rest of Mexico and there will be no jobs there. The joke will be on them.

Not financials— they are dispersed nodes with backup.
You would be correct, however if the San Joaquin Valley breadbasket was destroyed— the southern part is vegetable supplier to much of the US. Secondary suppliers— FL, GA— the South— yeah!

The headline is kinda silly.

Until we figure our how to manage an upheaval of the earth’s crust - as if it were an unexpectedly heavy snowfall, or until we move every citizen out of potential earthquake zone, we’ll never “be ready” when a quake happens.

There is a reason we call them natural DISASTERS.

In fact it would be Mexico’s loss and the US’s gain.

Let’s say you chopped off the rotten blue “rind” of California.

The San Andreas Fault makes a dandy dividing line. The Pacific Plate must go, but first let me drive a few miles Northeast.

and Yoko-— Oh. NO! No wonder Lennon went off his nut.

Lot of folks don’t know— but Lennon said he would have voted for Reagan if he could have, and pissed off a lot of libs when he told them. This is from his former personal assistant who said Lennon was a fan of Ronald Reagan, and also forged a close political alliance with Margaret Thatcher.

People tend to forget the earlier.. “I am the Tax Man” song that told the story better of confiscatory brit taxes.

The Tin-Foiler in me thinks Yoko had something to do with his murder.
