Massachusetts needs social conservatism so badly that it doesn’t know how to, successfully, achieve it. Many decades of “leftist only politics, everywhere in Massachusetts” has made the Massachusetts GOP nutty and “Democratic Party Light”, instead of, always, being a conservative party on all of the issues. Ditto, all other long-term “politically blue” areas of the U.S. and U.S. territories. Most of the rest of the world continues to be “stuck on leftist politics”, too. Hence, my tagline.

In the long run, no place is entirely hopeless, even Massachusetts. A century ago, the state produced conservative Republicans like Calvin Coolidge, the most conservative president in the last century, and Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr., who kept this country out of the League of Nations.

At present, Massachusetts seems hopeless, as even the rural counties are Democrat. Remember that at one time, Oklahoma was a hotbed of Populist radicalism, and the IWW had its greatest strength in Rocky Mountain states that are now mostly conservative. Things can change, although I don't see how it will occur in the short run.
