Jim Hall, one of the most renowned guitarists in jazz history, passed away this morning.

Mosaic Records put out a compilation of every side those two cut together which I of course purchased.
Only saw him once live, at the Blue Note in NYC in the midst of a blizzard, 94 I think. His bass player couldnt get across the bridge from Jersey so it was a bassless trio that night. George Shearing opened.
Went to use the restroom and there was Jim, washing his hands. A little difficult to tell someone how much you admire them when they are washing their hands after peeing.
Ah, the things we remember.

I have the same story re Spyro Gyra's drummer at some joint in Chicago, ~1980.
You guys really ripped that last one .. it was great !
