President Barack Obama delivered a eulogy to South Africa's late President Nelson Mandela at First National Bank Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg on Tuesday, before a large crowd that had gathered in the rain for a memorial together with dozens of heads of state from around the world. The president's address was devoted to Mandela's life and example. However, as in most Obama addresses, he could not resist talking about himself.
"For the people of South Africa, for those he inspired around the globe--Madibas passing is rightly a time of mourning, and a time to celebrate his heroic life," President Obama said in remarks prepared for delivery. But I believe it should also prompt in each of us a time for self-reflection. With honesty, regardless of our station or circumstance, we must ask: how well have I applied his lessons in my own life? It is a question I ask myself--as a man and as a President."
"Over thirty years ago, while still a student," he said later in his address, "I learned of Mandela and the struggles in this land. It stirred something in me. It woke me up to my responsibilities--to others, and to myself--and set me on an improbable journey that finds me here today. And while I will always fall short of Madibas example, he makes me want to be better."

Today Show kind of under played it compared to what I expected. Something’s going on with the media. Maybe pulling back from Obama to prepare the way for Hillary?

Do all the attendees receive a commemorative necklace?
To: markomalley
Of course he did. His privileged youth in Hawaii and various elite universities was just like Mandela’s decades in prison ... just like. Oh, how he suffered!

Yea, right. How wonderful it must be to be so tightly wound up in your own little echo chamber. I suppose your view of Jesus going where the disciples told him not to go falls right into the same line. How foolish of him not to listen to sickoblibs. He should have known better.
I would be a bit more pragmatic and hear Ted’s take of his trip before passing your narrow minded assertions.

Fiction. Entirely fiction. He was too busy chooming to bother himself with the likes of thinking about Mandela.

And its disgusting.

RE :”

He is sitting in the audience politely listening to Obama preach about freedom. I guess the others in GOP were worried it would make them throw up if they saw it.
Then you threw in some analogy between Obama and Jesus that was blasphemous and outright disgusting.
