Historic December cold descended upon parts of the Pacific Northwest early Sunday morning, as the mercury dipped to as low as -41 degrees below zero in Oregon. Under a thick blanket of snow, several locations set new records.
At Lakeview, Oregon the mercury dropped to -27 degrees below zero, setting a new all-time record for that location. The previous record was -22 degrees below zero set back in February of 1933 and again in January of 1937.

I want my damned Global Warming. I PAID FOR IT, I WANT IT.
Sez me, "What?!". No thaw this year. Might be why dates were conveniently left out.
Yawn. Just another log in the wood stove. The very same woodstove that the EPA wants to ban and ultimately, send in SWAT jackboots to sledgehammer it into uselessness.
They are welcome to die trying.
68% more ice pack this year than last... record growth... New Ice pack grew by 1,000,000 square miles. Like obama... climate whores lie... always.
Welcome King Barack "Canute" Obama the Great.....
...Obama issues an Executive Order to the Sun...
....to increase it's magnetic field....
and make a good crop of sunspots before elections in 2016....
(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.
The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age....and lasted 400 years.
Good luck surviving with no electricity and GE modified seeds.

So we trade one hockey stick for another?
Thank-you for that beautiful illustration of King Canute. I snipped it. Where is originally from?
Yep.
I was curious, so I looked it up. That's about the size of everything in the US, east of the Mississippi. Approximately.
Not a trivial amount of ice.
It was -3 at my house in Boise this morning when I left for work. It’s warmed up to +2 since then (3 hours ago)! Time for some sunbathing!
Global warming language just got more confusing to me. Wouldn’t a temperature of “-22 below zero” be +22?
AND WE WANT IT NOW!!
You can chill a lot of whiskey with that much ice. ;-)
That’s “Gore-Bull” warming.
I like to go to this site every couple of days to track ice progress.

The interactive chart part way down on the left is interesting. It does show a higher ice extent in the Arctic during the 70s & 80s then falling through the 90s and 00s. And now appears to be rising again.
Reading about Arctic exploration in the early 1900s it appears a number of areas had ice free summers back then.
One thing I know - it ain’t got warm enough on Greenland for the Vikings to move back and start farming again - yet.
Oregon ping...
Thanks for link!
