Looks like Krauthammer has not read enough about the German Democratic Socialist Party ( later called the NAZI party.)They conducted any number of insane campaigns.

No. They were not the same party. NAZI is a nickname for the National Socialist German Workers Party. The Nazi's liked the name "Socialist" but never had much use for "Democratic".
The Social Democrats were suppressed during the Nazi era, along with every other party. It is worth noting however, that the same voting districts that voted overwhelmingly for the Nazi's also voted consistantly for the Socialists over a period lasting decades after the Nazi era. Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn, in one of his several books on political philosophy, went so far as to print maps of the voting districts and how they voted over time showing this to be the case.

Krauthammer may be intelligent but he is short on common sense (e.g. former speech writer for Walter Mondale).
To borrow from Ben Franklin, Krauthammer is so learned that he can name a horse in 9 languages but so ignorant that he bought a cow to ride.
