OMG!
my cold on Saturday morn was NOTHING like that!
I did get underground water (and power) to the barn this summer, but I've not yet got the goats drinking bowl freeze proofed, so I've STILL been carrying 5 HOT gallons, twice a day, out to them.
The cat's and the bird's water are both in heated bowls.

That sucks. Would a large gage electric cord that could reach your barn from your house allow you to put in a water warmer to keep the water from freezing...of course it would depend on how far the barn was from the house.
For me the worse was March kidding season. Had to check the barn every 2 or 3 hours around the clock to check if anyone had given birth or was about to so we could put them in a pen with an electric barn light on to keep the kid warm. Learned lesson the hard way and had one give birth and the baby was found dead the next day from the below 0 temp. Get dressed in winter clothes and trudge out to the barn at 3am was not pleasant. Praying all the way that no one was about to give birth, cause that meant you'd be out there for quite a while setting up the kidding pens.

Still struggling with frozen water lines. I plan to triumph tomorrow...
