Black Californians have the lowest rate of college graduation among all ethnic groups and are less educated than their parents, according to a new study by a group calling on state lawmakers to get serious about helping African Americans.
"The State of Blacks in Higher Education in California," released Thursday by the Campaign for College Opportunity, offers a dismal set of findings:
-- 32 percent of black Californians who attended college dropped out, more than any other group, according to 2011 U.S. census data.
-- 30 percent of black Californians aged 25 to 34 have an associate's or bachelor's degree. By contrast, 35 percent of those aged 35 to 44 have a degree, as do 33 percent of those aged 45 to age 54.
-- Although 6 percent of all college-age Californians are black, black students are overrepresented at expensive, for-profit colleges: 10 percent; and at community colleges: 7 percent. They are underrepresented at the University of California: 4 percent; and California State University: 5 percent.
-- Nearly 24 percent of black Californians have degrees compared with 41 percent of white Californians, although the rate for black adults is better than their 18 percent rate in 2000

Really? How about parents getting serious about their kids while they're in high school? And once they are in college, how about they get serious about their studies? Why is this somebody else's fault, and not their own? Perhaps it's time for them to take responsibility for their own failings. After all, other minority groups do quite well under the current system.
“The Bell Curve” explains.
Sometime between then and now...LBJ happened.
I can’t find it now, but I once read a fascinating article about the employment rate, single mother rate, incarceration rate of the black population before and after the ‘War on Poverty’. It was stunning.
Anyway, we are three generations into this now, and the ‘Don’t be a sucker’ mentality has definitely set in. There are notable exceptions of course...but the people who are these exceptions have to overcome great peer pressure from their own families and friends, before they can go out and achieve.
That's it! Why didn't we think of that before?
Set a goal! Failure is not an option.
There. Fixed.
Idiots.
I blame Hollywierd.
If they didn’t glamorize gangsta pimps and drug dealers, then the kids would get educated and make something of themselves. Instead they all want to be in show business or they want to be into illegal stuff.
Sorry, I do not believe 24% of black and 41% of white Californians have college degrees. Unless they are including a diploma from beauty school or other vocational training as a “degree.”
That's because they weren't qualified to attend to begin with. The problem is affirmative action and PC. Let them stand on their own and many will do better, don't pass them just because they are black and teach them that "acting white" is not evil but to be desired. By acting white I mean getting and education and acting civilized.
Because they are trying not to “ack white”. (Yes, actual quote I heard from one of the hoodlums.)

Contestants are needed for the “knockout game.” Oops. The problem that the Trayvons have is that the Mexicans are knocking them out of Southern California. See here:

We, the hard working taxpayers, have tried to help the Blacks for decades and they have refused to help themselves. Special treatment, affirmative action, free auto insurance, free housing, free child care, free food, free health insurance, free everything. We have even tried to improve their so-called low self-esteem by given them a Black president and they're still refusing to help themselves and even demanding more free stuff. The more they get the more they want.
