They did it to us in Nam. Right before I was wounded, we went out on our final mission, before the 4th Infantry Division was to come home in December 1970, we were TOLD that on this final mission, we were NOT to shoot at anyone, nobody, unless we FIRST CHECKED THEIR ID CARDS!!! EVEN if they were in their nice little black PJ’s AND carrying an AK-47, we WERE NOT TO ENGAGE them unless we first check their &#^&@@*^ ID cards!!! Our platoon sergeant told us if anyone did not shoot everyone of them, he would shoot us!!! He said to shoot every stinking one of them, and THEN we would check their stinking ID cards. By the way, we were all wondering, WHO THE HECK ISSUED ID CARDS TO A BUNCH OF STINKING VC out in the wilderness?????
I’m speechless. As a Marine mom with a bad temper I want to know who issued that order. If I were there, I would have thought it a joke at first it is so ludicrous. If you are on Facebook, there is a page “Rules Of Engagement” for those of us infuriated at the treason.
I am glad you came home and hope you are well. My youngest brother went to Nam last year to teach English, and the woman he stayed with ate rats for dinner. Not democrats.
