Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin today declared a State of Emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties due to the winter storm impacting the state.
"The weather is bad and getting worse," said Fallin in a news release. "Emergency personnel are coordinating with state and local officials to ensure we are prepared and ready for whatever comes our way."
The declaration allows state agencies to make emergency purchases related to disaster relief and preparedness. It is also a first step toward seeking federal assistance should it be necessary.
Under the Executive Order, the state of emergency lasts for 30 days. Tulsa forecast calls for snow, sleet, single-digit lows.
Tulsa's winter weather is mostly expected tonight, with high chances of sleet and snow during the day today, then flurries and freezing drizzle possible Friday.

I’m just saying that there are much much better arguments against the idea of “Global Warming” than merely pointing out that we’re getting winter weather right now - which is what people actually expect to get at this time of the year.
I’ve made plenty of arguments against “Anthropogenic Global Warming” - but I never make arguments against “Global Warming” - and I have done so for years on this forum.
But I’ve NEVER made an argument against “Anthropogenic Global Warming” by saying, “We’re getting winter weather right now.”
25 miles east of Springfield,MO here. Had sleet and freezing rain around 11:30am then snow. About 2 inches so far. Snow coming down thick and steady.
Snow,sleet, freezing rain and cold temperatures has happened here in the UP of Michigan. Schools were open, grocery stores open and even banks, pharmacy open. Life goes on in spite of winter storms
Well ... they’re sending me out in this weather to get a few additional things at the store. Their justification for sending me out in this right now is — “You like driving in this stuff!” ... LOL ...
I do actually ... but “really now” ... :-) ...
I remember one time I was trying to get back to Oregon (lived there at the time) and a huge snow storm was hitting the upper Midwest. Well, they were getting ready to shut down everything there and I knew I had to get out of Wyoming (driving across the Interstate) before they shut down everything, and I would be stuck for days, then.
I could barely see on the Interstate, so I cracked the driver’s door open slightly, and drove right next to the dotted white line, as that was the only way I could see where the road was ... LOL ...
I finally did make it out of Wyoming, and just about am hour after that, the Interstate was shut down for a couple of days. I barely made it out ... :-) ...

Yes it’s cold here in Montana, but it goes with the pristine territory.
I was born and reared in the Florida Panhandle as had all my ancestors going back to the 1700s. It can get cold here but not the brutal cold of the far North.
I spent 5 years in Tidewater, Virginia and the weather there was not that much different from Florida.
I spent 5 years in Western, Kansas. I liked the state but it did sometimes get really cold there. “There was nothing between there and the North Pole but a barb wire fence.”
The locals in Kansas told me that 4wd did no good on ice. I assumed they knew what they were talking about since they were native to the area but I later found out they were totally wrong. Four wheel drive definitely helps on ice.
The Great Icepocalypse of 2013 has a nice alarmist ring to it.

There are, but when the other side uses every weather event as evidence for their position, the debate tends to be about quantity rather than quality. You’d think after 30 years of “warming” we could just cancel winter already. At least when we use the anecdotal evidence we’re joking about it.

There’s 6 inches to 2 feet of ice sprayed over my place from nearby peaks now (CO). Had winds over 100 mph again. The ice is much heavier than regular snow and harder for tires to push through. It should pile up much more within a month or so. Pulled a small trailer 65 mph over 30 miles on ice today.

Yeah ... I know what you mean. I used to drive back and forth between Oregon and Texas/Oklahoma. Many times it was in the middle of Winter and going across the Rockies. Usually I would encounter some ice and snow on the roads, along the way — but one winter it was especially bad.
It was approximately 1,000 miles on solid, packed snow and ice (on a 2,100 mile trip one way). Then it was approximately another 1,000 miles of the same thing on the return route of 2,100 miles. Of course I was geared up and ready for anything. I always had those V-bar chains (and they were great). BUT, I never had to put them on — even going across the Rockies and across those 2,000 miles of packed snow and ice.
HOWEVER, about two weeks after I got back from the trip — Portland had a Silver Thaw. It didn’t worry me because I had all the gear - and I thought I would have no problem driving around. I did okay at first, until when I got ready to drive home (about an 8 mile drive, total) — I couldn’t even pull the car away from the curb, no matter how hard I tried. SO ... I had to put on the chains and got home handily after that.
I found out that I could drive across country, on 2,000 miles of packed snow and ice on the roads and never put on chains. BUT ... in Portland, I couldn’t even get away from the curb and drive 8 miles home ... LOL ...
