Obamacare: You're not insured until you pay
CNN Money ^ | December 5, 2013 | Tami Luhby

You must pay your first month's premium before you are insured under Obamacare.

Just because you've picked an Obamacare insurance policy doesn't mean you've got coverage.

If you want to be insured come Jan. 1, you have to pay your first month's premium by your insurer's due date, often Dec. 31.

Sounds simple enough, but federal officials and insurers are concerned that many consumers don't realize they have to take this last step and will remain uninsured. What's more, those who don't pay by then may have their Obamacare applications terminated, forcing them to re-enroll via healthcare.gov for coverage that will begin later in 2014.

The tight deadline and continuing errors with consumers' applications being sent to insurers also risk leaving some folks uncovered. Obama administration officials are advising consumers to check with their insurer of choice to make sure it received their application and payment and that coverage will begin Jan. 1.

Here's the timeline: Consumers have until Dec. 23 to pick an insurance plan on healthcare.gov....

Everyone wants free insurance, but no one wants to pay.

I know Scott Baio (sp?) of Happy Days fame was taken to the liberal woodshed for tweeting something similar to:”Can you imagine waking up to that every morning?’.

The evidence is clear. This photo clearly absolves Mr. Baio of any wrongdoing.

I was able to access the compare plans page.

This statement is in a dialog box at the top of the page.

Many people who apply will pay lower monthly premiums than those shown here. Households with yearly incomes up to about $46,000 for individuals or $94,000 for a family of four will qualify for lower costs. The prices you see are for people who don't use tobacco. You'll get final quotes for specific plans based on your income and household after you complete a Marketplace application.

Take from the Makers & Give it to the Takers!

Luckily for Barry, she’s only his beard, he gazes upon Reggie in the A.M., I imagine.

If you knew anything about insurance, that would be called “offer and acceptance”. The insurance company makes an offer. Payment of premium (which is accepted) completes the contractual obligation.

What am I saying...this is Obama here. Sorry, interjecting fact and contract law here. Does not compute for our Dear Leader.

I have yet to meet anyone who has actually purchased health insurance on the exchange.

Does anyone have any links where people are discussing what the have encountered?

I mean real people with real life accounts and concerns, not the astro-turfers.

People are supposed to pay before they receive a document in the mail that spells out their coverage? They don't get a bill in the mail?

I'd never pay an insurance bill without those things.

What's going to happen when people stop making their monthly payments? When they move? How can one agree to pay when they don't have in writing some kind of card that that lists their provider and their coverage, with referral numbers?

This whole thing is really low-end.

she actually made that face on their official visit to England where they saw the Queen. That was her reaction to the Queen driving up for the official state visit, which of course is very stately and a sight to see. Just tacky.
