Mine started with the attack to retake Hill 10 outside Tam Key Vietnam. Damn, that was the loudest cacophony I’ve ever heard in my life.
It seems to have gotten better over the years though.

I describe my tinnitus to others as sounding like being in a room with thousands of cicadas chirping away. It only stops when I sleep. Fortunately, I am able to ignore it most of the time.
To: Red Badger
Tinnitus remedies are not a 'one size fits all' thing. There are different types of Tinnitus, one of which is a break down of the myelin sheath in the nerves of the inner ear or brain.
Myelin sheath compromises result in tinnitus. 'Nerve traffic' escapes through openings in the nerve sheath and our ear picks up this noise as a frequency in the form of tinnitus.
I've had tinnitus since before I was a teen. The BEST way to beat tinnitus is TO IGNORE IT AND DON'T 'FOCUS' ON IT!

I’ve never met a veteran who didn’t have some hearing loss.

If youve got ringing in the ears, the first thing you should do is see a psychiatrist, he said. She saved my life. Yeah, great. The government will claim that everybody with some form of tinnitus is somehow mentally unbalanced and no longer able to own guns.

By the way, my tinnitus isn’t a result of hearing loss. Just the opposite.. I can hear a flea fart. I think it’s BECAUSE my hearing is so good that I can hear my nerve traffic.

Mine is constant, 24-7-365, noises like a thousand crickets in the room at all times............

Yeah, great. The government will claim that everybody with some form of tinnitus is somehow mentally unbalanced and no longer able to own guns. Dang-it! Just when I was considering looking into therapy you have to hit one of my paranoia-buttons. Jerk.

I just heard about this problem yesterday, guy at the office has it, it kinda comes and goes, he said his was caused by a muscle in his face that got hit and that muscle controls how much the ear hears, and that his was too good of hearing and he needs to get sound blocking plugs to quiet the noise.

A flea fart! - wtf does it sound like? (Btw I have serious hearing loss and tinnitus)

Like most all right handed telephone workers, my tinnitus increased with my hearing loss in my left ear. Left handed workers lost their’s in the right ear...... decades of having test sets cradled to our ears.
