WaPo: Obama polling is worse than its topline looks
Hot Air ^ | 5 Dec 2013 | ED MORRISSEY

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve looked at the various polls on Barack Obama’s performance and noted the dramatic decline in approval on both policy areas and personal qualities. Today, the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake and Sean Sullivan take a look at the former, and inform readers that Obama is in much bigger trouble than just dropping below 40% overall approval:

Recent polling from the Pew Research Center and Quinnipiac University has shown Obama’s approval rating on almost all major issues plunging into the 30s — below even his lowest-ever overall approval rating, which has stood around 40 percent in recent polls.

One might expect Obama’s issue approval rating to be lagging on the economy, for example. And it is.

But even with an issue on which which the president appears to fall in line with a majority of Americans, he’s struggling.

The Pew poll showed Obama’s approval rating on immigration, for instance, was at 32 percent, with 60 percent disapproving, and Quinnipiac showed just 35 percent approving of Obama on that issue. The two wonder why Obama’s job approval rating remains a little above his ratings on these critical issues. One of their theories is that his likeability may still be softening the blow, or that the collapse of his leadership approval numbers means that people believe he simply can’t deliver. I’d lean a little more toward the former, although we haven’t seen a poll on likeability in a while.

So a fact is a fact unless its not, or something like that. Whatever, in case you haven’t noticed the GOP is looking for ways to support amnesty, is backtracking on its promises to repeal Obamacare, working hard to destroy the influence of the Tea Party, and allowing the national debt and spending to rise to catastrophic levels.

I don’t think I’ll take your advice to remain silent.

Obama is such a liar that he won’t deliver on his current obamacare talking points either: (1)pre-existing conditions, (2) portability, (3) parent’s policy ‘til 26, (4) healthcare for everyone.

Numbers 2 and 4 are already proven untrue, although they’re not admitting it.

I am betting they will absolutely price people out of preexisting condition coverage, but they won’t admit that, either.

Yes....it is now time to broom Obama!!! Does no one have the “you-know-what” to poll the American people on getting rid of this incompetent clown POTUS, Obama. Will someone, some organization do the same thing as the the Heritage Foundation did along with Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz polling to abolish Obamacare by not funding it!!!

Actually, The Democrat Party should march up to the White House and demand Obama’s resignation, or impeach him!!! But....that will not happen...yet!!! But.....a poll of the people, for the people and by the people...will go a long way in getting rid of this would be...America hater & destroyer, Barack Hussein Obama!!!

Someone.......please get on it!!!

Not just that he’s a liar..but that he lied to THEM. Clinton was and is a liar, but he convinced the gullible that he was lying to everyone BUT them.

“is backtracking on its promises to repeal Obamacare”

Look at the division even on this board between repealing it and making them eat it.

Because they want us to believe that a majority of Americans want amnesty which is not true.

While I dont disagree lets please not forget OCare really wasnt as much a function of Barry as it was of the libs in Congress. They and the press own this all. The blame must be attributed rightly.

.
Too late to do anything about it — Obama scoffs at all polls.

I agree. The GOP “leadership” is unreliable and cannot be counted on to do anything that diminishes government power. The GOP-E gave Senators Cruz and Lee more grief than the ‘Rats did when they tried to stop Obamacare.

OK, I'm calling BS on that statement - please provide provide one example of where Obama has EVER done any work.

Golfing, yes, partying, yes, vacationing, yes, lying, yes ..... but Obama actually doing work? Never!

I have an idea that you don’t take advice. period. That’s OK with me since I’m retired and no longer make a living giving advice to my clients. I’ll be on the golf course for the rest of the day.

Single Female. Not necessarily female.

Married females (esp. white females) are much more conservative.

I have to laugh at the likeability poll. What’s to like? He’s a fraud. None of these people polled know him personally, so how can they say they like him? I don’t know him - don’t want to - and do NOT like him, what he stands for - or what he says.

Maslow said that security needs drive decisions more than social and esteem needs.

Interesting take there dblshot... there IS a hierarchy of needs - and yeah it could have an important influence on the vote. Hadn't thought of it in those term - but you're right. Thanks for sharing. We'll have to watch this one...

*********
Absolutely true. The GOPe bears its teeth whenever a real conservative offers to lead. They are only interested in protecting their own turf.

The GOP wants our money and our votes, but not our principles.

I have no idea what your point is. What do the topics of being retired and playing golf have to do with anything? Talk about a non-sequitur.

I guess we’ll agree to disagree with whatever it was you said.
