Strong signs point to House Speaker John Boehner leading an amnesty cave-in that delivers millions of new Democratic votes. Republicans should man up and put border security front and center.
The two words "Becky Tallent" resonate with conservatives in Congress the way "Howard Baker" did when Ronald Reagan welcomed the liberal Republican senator as chief of staff during Iran-Contra, bringing most of the Reagan agenda to a screeching halt; or the way the words "Susan Kennedy" did a decade ago when newly elected California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger crushed his supporters by hiring the hard-line Democratic operative as chief of staff.
Speaker John Boehner just brought on to his staff Rebecca Tallent, now director of immigration policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center, a think tank that is the brainchild of four strange bedfellows: Baker, former Senate Democratic leaders Tom Daschle and George Mitchell, and former Senate GOP leader Bob Dole. Last month, Tallent called it "imperative" that we have "strong immigration" for the sake of "future prosperity and labor market strength."

Republicans bring back American jobs first.
America needs a (lot) of jobs right now.
Not immigration. Jobs.
I am still very skeptical that he will get a citizenship bill passed by house.
Maybe something else but not that.
The Republican wing of The Party of Government has abetted the Democrat wing for the last 40 years in replacing American voters with Mexicans.
It’s not a matter of “caving”. It is overt collusion.
If the gutless, b*ll-less repulsicans cave, it’ll be...
They’re not pinin’! They’ve passed on! This party is no more! It has ceased to be! It has expired and gone to meet its maker! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in disgrace! If Boehner and associates hadn’t nailed thenmselves to the barstool they’d be pushing up the daisies! Its metabolic processes are now ‘istory! Its off the twig! Its kicked the bucket, its shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-PARTY!
Apologies to the Monty Python gang...all of who will outlive the repulsive Repulsican Bonehead no-spine party.
Good News: The end of republican traitors like Boehner.
Bad News: Permanent democratic majority.
Border security first. Then the purge of illegals, democrats, and RINOs.
The RINOs want the cheap labor for their corporate sponsors. They want Obamacare because their sponsors in the insurance companies are getting a whole lot of skim. They want constitutional conservatives for scared voters who will keep voting for them even when we’re kicked in the teeth, time after time.
Definitely. I have yet to hear a logical, rational argument from the GOP as to why we must grant legal status to millions of stowaways. And, does anyone in their right mind believe that this legal status would ever be reversed back to illegal status? Or that the legal status will be upgraded to citizenship at the stroke of a pen?
I ask the question over and over, as a natural born citizen, what do I get out of this deal? What's in it for me?
-Near as I can tell, no positives and all negatives.
Republicans don’t need excuses. They willingly cave without explanations. Its what they do, its who they are.
Excellent post. Right on the money.
Near as I can tell, no positives and all negatives

Just the way the GOP likes it. Maximum cave. Permanent losers.
Hence the term Uniparty
They are NOT “caving”.
They are doing what they want to do.
Democrats + Republicans
Sadists ... Masochists=
Symbiotic relationship
If politics were state prison, Democrats would be ‘Bubba’, a large black fellow, and John Boehner would be the house prison bitch with a flat head and no teeth, weeping copiously 24/7.
Maybe Democrats are right about the GOP being run by cave-men!
Until the bureaucratic regulation and tax codes are changed in the USA manufacturing and business in general is not coming back. Pick any goonish agency, IRS, EPA, etc... why go through the aggravation of dealing with them when you can do things far cheaper in Asia or South America.
Sadly we did this to ourselves Republicans through collaboration or ignorance and Democrats intentionally.
Nonsense. There are PLENTY of reasons for the gop wing of the uniparty to cave on immigration:
- It’s a payoff for their corporate cronies.
- It’s the gop’s turn to take the heat on a “tough” decision to screw the middle class.
- Dear leader wants it, the weeper wants it, nasty nancy wants it, eric the weasel wants it, hairy wants it, and the kentucky doughboy wants it.
- It allows the gop to put the screws to conservatives.
- It allows the gop to appeal to a different part of the (new) electorate instead of us bothersome conservatives.
Should I go on?
Worse news: we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
