These are the jobs for young people who are just beginning their work career or are in school or for adults who need a second job.
These are not the jobs you take to raise a family.
People who constantly drive legislators to increase the minimum wage have absolutely NO perspective on what these jobs are.
In the end everyone loses...Employers have to limit hiring and consumers keep their money in their pockets rather than pay ridiculous prices for inferior food and services!!!
3rd world standard is dollar a day wage. Millions of people in Africa are yet to make as much. Why do they think they do deserve any better in Detroit?

Again, this is all about a union who has figured out where the next big flood of ‘members’, or rather, people they can bleed for dues. Raise those salaries a dollar an hour, so that the union can take that pre-tax dollar out of the employee's pocket and line their own.
Hey! Want to try for bonus points? Take the media picture of the Walmart protest and compare it the media picture of the fast food protest, and count how many faces you can exactly match between the two photos. I think the record last year was 11, with the accompanying media article actually quoting the same three people between the two protests.

Easy solution: liberal politicians should pass law declaring that all employees are paid at least $150,000 per hour, regardless of industry.
This is the minimum that any compassionate government should do.
