It is time to talk about guns (oath breaker barf alert)
Esquire ^ | 03 DEC 13 | LTC Robert Bateman

Posted on 12/03/2013 5:58:06 PM PST by DCBryan1

People, it is time to talk about guns.

My entire adult life has been dedicated to the deliberate management of violence. There are no two ways around that fact. My job, at the end of the day, is about killing. I orchestrate violence.

I am not proud of that fact. Indeed, I am often torn-up by the realization that not only is this my job, but that I am really good at my job. But my profession is about directed violence on behalf of the nation. What is happening inside our country is random and disgusting, and living here in England I am at a complete loss as to how to explain this at all. In 2011 the number of gun deaths in the United States was 10.3 per 100,000 citizens. In 2010 that statistic in the UK was 0.25. And do not even try to tell me that the British are not as inclined to violence or that their culture is so different from ours that this difference makes sense. I can say nothing when my British officers ask me about these things, because it is the law.

And for that, frankly speaking, I am embarrassed by our Supreme Court.

One was Army, and engineer who spent time in the sand but always at HQ. Another was an F16 pilot, academy who worked for me. There are others but you’re correct.

A good friend who was a Seal Capt who separated after being shot a few times in 2004 is not anti-gun.

“And living here in England.”

Like another Army officer traitor who ran away, named Benedict Arnold.

...while our enemies will have the greatest firepower they can get, regardless of rules.

He wants his fellow citizens to die, holding mere muskets against modern automatics.

Look deep enough online and you see this creep associated with The Nation, Alterman, Media Matters, leftie think-tanks, etc. This guy is a left-wing true believer who seemed to surface right after Obama took office, and seems to be trotted out whenever the left wants military street cred.

"National Guard immediately deployed to the southern border, until a moat and 30ft high sheer wall can be constructed."

I'll take it a step further...the bring our forces back from Korea and Europe (they can damn well defend themselves), and assign active duty units to border patrol and security. Build not a wall, and equip it with spot and flood lights, and machinegun positions. Install sensors to detect seismic vibrations to prevent tunneling. Have reaction brigades at Ft. Huachuca and Ft. Bliss ready to go on short notice. Aviation assets to include some kind of fixed-wing ground surveillance radar coverage, and rotary-wing response aircraft. Equivalent security and patrolling along our coastlines.

If we get serious about border and coastal security, maybe we'd get a handle on the hundreds of billions that get pi**ed away each year on illegal scumbag aliens. Of course, to do so means the Obamaphone Lady won't get her precious.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

And that is why a member of the military was beheaded in broad daylight on a public street, with the terrorist strutting around like he just won the big teddybear at the fair, and all the people armed with cellphones were beating a retreat or cowering in fear.

It's really easy to be good at this job (killing) when everyone around you is unarmed!

Quite amazing. Note his comments about “Management of Violence” and “Orchestrate Violence”. These are bullshit terms that were in vogue back in the seventies, but have been thoroughly discredited except among the academic military wannabes. I would love to know what this guy’s combat record is. Heavy on the PowerPoint side would be my guess. He’s an academic woose masquerading as an Officer in the United States Army.

My commentary from another thread on this subject:

I will provide some personal observations, take them for what they are worth. First, a few disclaimers. I was a career infantry officer, serving for 25 years with command experience at the Lieutenant, Captain, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel level. I am a combat veteran, and I was an Assistant Professor at West Point. In 1994, shortly after I retired, I went to Bosnia as part of a White House study to determine what to do to train and equip the Bosnian and Croatian forces to bring a military stalemate to the Balkans. Myself, and the other retired officers on this mission were sent because the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs would not agree to a military team given the upcoming military mission of IFOR that might compromise our neutral stance.

I have run across a number of Bateman’s ilk over the years. They are well educated, smart, and masters of their craft at the theoretical level. They are not, generally, very good soldiers primarily because they do not really like soldiering at the retail level. It’s pretty nasty down there, cold nights, wet days, miserable food, and people shoot at you. They prefer the more lofty perch of academia and they peddle their limited military experience as augmentations to their CV. But, they are academics, and pose academic solutions to military problems. Liberals in Battle Dress is the best way to describe them.

I mention my experiences in Bosnia because it was there that I saw first hand the efforts of the Yugoslav Army to disarm the populace. They were quite familiar with how the Nazis had done this, and simply implemented the Nazi plan. The Croats and the Bosniacs would have done the same thing, but they didn’t control the Army, so were held powerless to counter what happened. Thousands were safely rounded up and slaughtered once the populace was disarmed. World history is replete with similar examples.

Bateman would have done well in the Yugoslav Army. He would have known quite well what the Nazis had done, and we would have been eager to carry out the plan. After all, people usually voluntarily comply, so no shooting is required and when the day is done you can have a nice meal with a good wine, sleep in a warm bed, and have your pick of the comely local women. That’s Bateman’s kind of military operations.

I don’t care much for these types.

This guy does not aspire to promotion to Colonel, in my opinion. He wants to move into the academic left. This is very hard for a military officer to do unless you are viewed as a dedicated Leftist.

See Colonel (Retired) Andrew “Skip” Bacevich to get some insights on how this is done.

>>> “Heck the guy across the street sprints inside to call the cops everytime a neighbor with a large piece of land shoots. Even though the cops have repeatedly told him its completely legal.”

Good grief, whatta turd. Has he never heard of the boy who cried wolf?

Nobody’s coming to save him when the shooting takes place, is all I’m sayin. Perhaps he ought to give it a think.

Words escape me as to what I would say to this so called former defender of our constitution. His efforts clearly put him on my domestic enemies list.

...Hurts to even read the news these days.

Slightly off topic ...Example,.... I have a app on my phone that makes me aware of our nations flag being at half mast....... Got one the other day stating that the flag would be at half staff on December 7th in respect for those killed and injured at Pearl Harbor. Awesome ! I planned on honoring them in same fashion by lowering my flag at my home as well anyway.

Then I get another ping on the same app that our POS Precedent Erkel Mugabe has ordered our nations flag to be lowered now until December 9th to “honor” this terrorist piece of shit communist Mandela .

I have decided to honor those who died and were injured at Pearl Harbor by NOT lowering my flag. These men and women died IMO to keep our flag proudly flying high. Obama has ordered our flag lowered for drug addicts, criminals, terrorists and polidiots and presstitutes that should have been stood up against a wall and shot after a fair trial. Rarely and I suspect with great regret does this asshole in the White House sincerely respect any real American Hero’s........ Damn such as this punk and his administration .

My opinion only ....

God Bless those who still understand, support and defend our constitution, traditions, values and invite all who want to become Americans to come here and become an American.

Those that attempt to alter or sabotage our country, it’s freedoms, liberties, security and traditions.....doom on you and your handlers.

Sorry for the late response DC Bryan 1.... Hope yer well, stay safe !
