Willam "Bill" Rockefeller, 45, has been named by a Metro North spokesperson as the train engineer in the fatal crash that occurred in The Bronx on December 1, reports The Daily News.
The horrific crash killed four passengers and injured 63 more, 11 of them critically. Those killed have been named as James Lovell, 58, Donna Smith, 54, Ahn Kisook, 35, and James Ferrari, 59.

Actually, there is only one ‘fact’ that is of ANY importance. Whether he ‘zoned’ out before the accident.

Makes you wonder; Rockefeller isn’t the most common name.
And if somehow related, why is he driving a train? Why isn’t he part of the idle rich, like the big number of Kennedy cousins?

Well, that’s okay in the scheme of things for the curious, but not a ‘must know’.....I was expecting something exculpatory or damning - actually neither was the case. Just a headline grabbing ‘much of nothing’ story if you aks me.
Probably so. For me, I don’t really care about the guy’s name. Give him a drug test, lie detector test and so forth and then proceed with facts is my opinion.
Didn’t David Horowitz write a book about the Rockefeller family and was surprised by how low the descendants had fallen?

Hard to imagine a wealthy heir would be a train engineer. I suppose it’s possible but doesn’t seem likely.

Not excusing the guy in any way but zoned out does not always mean fell asleep. have you ever traveled the same route day after day after day and one day you remember starting out but the next thing you know your pulling into your drive way? I know I have, but when your responsible for the lives of many people if this starts happening to you someone must be told. The fact that he refers to zoning out indicates to me that this is a known issue among engineers.
IIRC, there was a video game that the South Park Children didn’t want “Towlie” to play...something about catching a Dragon or something.... basically a stoner’s game where your could never catch the Dragon, but you didn’t care.
The obvious answer is drugs, alcohol or other misbehavior. And if I were to bet on the issue that’s how I’d bet.
However, there are a host of non-predictable medical conditions that can cause someone to black out or become unable to respond.
I think waiting for the evidence is the right thing to do.
Sometimes bad things just happen.
