Amazon.com Inc. is testing delivery packages using drones, CEO Jeff Bezos said Sunday on the CBS television program "60 Minutes."
Bezos said the drones, unmanned vehicles that fly through the air, could deliver packages that weigh up to five pounds. That represents roughly 86 percent of packages that Amazon delivers, he said.
The drones, which would pick up items from Amazon's distribution centers and fly them to customer's homes, probably won't be put into use for four or five years, Bezos said.
Amazon may start using the drones, which can deliver packages within 30 minutes, in four to five years pending Federal Aviation Administration approval, Bezos said.

Is Drone Hunting Season going to be the new Red Neck Sport in 4 - 5 years?
PT Barnum would be proud.
“Hey! I got hit in the head by a flying copy of the Collected Works of William Shakespeare!”
I doubt it.
I suspect between govt and commercial applications, these will be filling the sky like sparrows.
Is Amazon going to be delivering dreams now???
PULL!
I see a crowded sky
Now how does one know when they arrive. Do they Dive Bomb into your house? Do they knock the door? Do they honk or ring a bell upon arrival?
Down the chimney.
I wonder what homeland security will have to say about that.
Probably text your phone...
“Honey, sorry I shot up your new sweater, but it’s just collateral as I was aiming at the drone...”
Faster than driving to WalMart.
It will send you a text message or phone call. Very easy to accomplish.
Can you imagine the liability insurance premiums on these?
kinda like owl mail, eh?

You beat me to it :) I’m thinking that drone hunting may become so popular in some states (guess which they might be) that a drone stamp will have to be purchased along with one’s hunting license, same as duck and turkey stamps. I’ve hunted sandhill crane and it takes #2 buck shot to bring them down. I would think #2 would be about right for these drones. Can’t wait, lol !
