I prefer live spots to canned commercials.
I wish there were no commercials but that is business.
As a radio guy, cueing a CART is easier, but on the listening end, people like the soft sell better.
Nothing “soft” about the sell one does when pretending a spot is a news story. That’s why I hate them.
I don’t mind live spots (even if they’ve been carted up), because you know from the first word what it is, but I always think the host is playing a game of “gotcha” when they have spots masquerading as news. Hannity does it too, but I already don’t listen to him for other, better reasons.
(BTW, I do listen to radio, I just have to turn it up a bit!)
I used to do a three hour morning show. In most hours we had either 3 or 4 live spots. Trouble is they were all five minutes long.
It was like reselling the spot everythime you did one, usually with the business owner.I had one guy I made give us a fish story before we would talk about his product.It worked well.
