In the very early days of the AIDS pandemic in the homosexual community, it was called the “gay cancer”, because “gay” men were dying of illnesses due to depressed immune systems, but nobody at first knew what the cause was.

The ban on gay donations of blood made sense based on that.

Gay men especially are prone to all sorts of health problems, due to their voluntary sex activities. There could be other diseases similar to AIDS out there, which have not been detected yet.

I know we’re supposed to be liberal and lift the ban on donations. How about a compromise? A separate but equal blood bank, in which all donors are gay men. Then other gay men can get their blood transfusions from the gay themed blood bank.

Speak for yourself. I consider the liberal label a badge of shame. I'm conservative and I object to having the blood supply contaminated with AIDS virus.

That’s a decision I can get behind!
