I just finished re-reading that book last week. It was better than I remember when I read it back in the late eighties. The movie is also one of my favorites.
I met Fred Thompson back in late ‘07 when he was running for president. As I chatted with him while getting my picture taken, all I could think was holy crap I’m shaking hands with Admiral Painter...
