WASHINGTON – A prominent Army general, bolstered by other military and defense leaders, contends President Obama’s preferred counterinsurgency policy is proving to be “devastating” for America and rewarding to its enemies.

Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely, now retired, was deputy commanding general in the Army’s Pacific Command, is founder of Stand Up America and has been a military analyst for Fox News.

Vallely says Obama has so degraded and demoralized the military in multiple ways – including a major purge of senior officers, with almost 200 relieved of duty over Obama’s five years as commander-in-chief and nine generals this year alone – that those remaining cannot speak out for fear of being forced out of the military.

What tipped him off? He surely wasn’t talking to the boots on the ground. Maybe it was a load of SEALs lost on a Chinook?

I'm not all that interested in what one retired general says. If one person tells me the sky is falling, I'll dismiss that one person as a crackpot. But if three people tell me the sky is falling, I'll begin to take notice.

If what Vallely says is true, then more retired generals need to step up to the plate. If those generals are unwilling to do so, either Vallely is wrong, or pensions are more important than honor.

No offense but if the people are willing to sell out their republic, can you fault the generals for keeping their heads down and cashing their pension checks and working a fat job after retirement? A real leader will emerge but its going to have to get much worse. What sickens this nation will require a harsh medicine. Most patriots aren’t there yet. More are getting closer but when you add them all up its probably 15% of the population and I don’t expect more than 20% to ever truly get it. JMHO.

I talked to an officer that knew the true story about what happened during Maersk Alabama incident. The clown prince showed his true colors back then.

Has there ever been a time, since the civil war, in which an American General was so critical and distrusting of a President?

“... I don’t expect more than 20% to ever truly get it.”

Isn’t that about the same percentage who participated in the FIRST American Revolution?

Look, we need good people to stay in the military even if they have to hide that they’re decent Americans. You do understand that, right?

Nice job from the cheap seats.. Have you considered that the remaining may be there to protect the boots that are stuck there, dying for your critical ass..

I’m sure there are a few in every walk of life that value their retirement to sell us down the river, but I have personally known too many that would rather shuffle through this garbage to add to the resistance of the remaining brass that are true patriots..

And BTW, whats wrong with thinking of their own 20-30 years of $hit for nothing.. I can’t fault them that either.. What about you, what have you done for your country???

Well, sure. I'm not talking about those folks. I'm talking about RETIRED flag officers. If Vallely is correct, then those retired flag officers have to at least consider backing Vallely up.

It's really pretty simple. Either Vallely is exaggerating, or the retired flag officers consider pensions and consulting jobs more important than honor.

Valley is not exactly prominent. He is a retired reservist, very different from a retired General Officer of the Regular Army. He made his living as a financial planning, and later as a political pundit/TV military analyst. As a reservist, his military experience was in Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations.

His political viewpoint should be taken for what it is, he makes his living on the fringes of politics and is not particularly well connected or well informed on the military side.
