Correct, the Yellow shirts are the good guys and the current government are the populist leftists.

It does appear to me that the good guys are pushing awfully hard right now and I am not sure they really have the support for it. The amnesty for Yingluck’s brother was going to fail anyway. I guess the Yellow’s (good guys) know her party will keep pushing amnesty until she can bring her corrupt socialist brother back.

I’m due to be in Bangkok next month, so things are probably going to be very interesting. Hope it isn’t a repeat of 2010.

The sad reality is the rural poor majority support the socialists. Given a chance to vote, they will vote for the leftist Thaksin or Yingluck each and ever time. As I pointed out previously, it is sort of like the situation in Venezuela, Bolivia, etc.
