The fact that “Glory to God Automotive” is still open after all these years says a lot about Hillsdale.

Thanks for that link — what an awesome idea for a ministry!

I’d had an idea for a TV show (yeah, it would NEVER get produced in this current media culture), about a priest who has a ministry teaching kids how to fix cars. But there it is!

“What we need is a Hayes manual for the soul.”

I look at things like Glory to God automotive and realize that I have lived in the wrong place all my life.

My daughter recently spoke about Texas:.

Black Friday: Texas -
1. Cause it was in the 60’s today, it was possible to have scores of handsome Marines in full ceremonial dress at stoplights and at the doors of major retailers like Best Buy collecting toys and money for Toys For Tots. Replace the panhandlers of Portland with these guys- please!!! Being greeted with “Y’all have a blessed holiday” by a man in uniform surrounded by a pile of toys he has collected for charity may or may not cause palpitations (for ladies anyways).
2. The Salvation Army bell ringers pulled double duty- not only ringing bells and collecting money, but opening doors and helping people to their cars. I’ve never seen that before.
3. A man walked down the main strip near the mall carrying a large wooden cross with the words “Remember- Jesus LOVES You” carved in it. Everyone from truckers to Porsches honked and waved.

I haven’t been up in downtown Hillsdale in a while (I have an Aunt that lives there). Good places and people still? Or did they get weird on us?
