Scott Walker, Wisconsin’s action governor
Washington Post ^ | November 29, 2013 | By George Will

MILWAUKEE

In 2011, thousands of government employees and others, enraged by Gov. Scott Walker’s determination to break the ruinously expensive and paralyzing grip that government workers’ unions had on Wisconsin, took over the capitol building in Madison. With chanting, screaming and singing supplemented by bullhorns, bagpipes and drum circles, their cacophony shook the building that the squalor of their occupation made malodorous. They spat on Republican legislators and urinated on Walker’s office door. They shouted, “This is what democracy looks like!”

When they and Democratic legislators failed to prevent passage of Act 10, they tried to defeat — with a scurrilous smear campaign that backfired — an elected state Supreme Court justice. They hoped that changing the court’s composition would get Walker’s reforms overturned. When this failed, they tried to capture the state Senate by recalling six Republican senators. When this failed, they tried to recall Walker. On the night that failed — he won with a larger margin than he had received when elected 19 months earlier — he resisted the temptation to proclaim, “This is what democracy looks like!”

Reagan, Quail, Bush, Judge Bork, Clarence Thomas, Condaleza Rice, Herman Cain, Sarah Palin and her family, Rick Perry, Ted Cruz...

_______________

And succeeded with some and not others. the ones who fought back like Reagan, Thomas, Palin and Cruz did and will win out. Breitbart said it best when he went into full attack mode on these leftist beasts.

You can say whatever you want about how I replied. I live in Wisconsin and know how Walker made things happen. So you don't like his comments regarding immigration. Look to the quote above. If you don't like it then fine.

I personally think Walker would be fine on immigration. I'm just tired of everyone here finding fault with every republican if his name isn't Ted Cruz. And if anyone thinks I'm a RINO for liking Walker, c'mon up here and let's talk.

But for heaven's sake, let's have a dialogue where people don't misrepresent Walker's stance on abortion or even immigration. You can google either and get a pretty good bit of information on both. You see wobbly on immigration. I don't. And I certainly don't see him wobbly in the least on abortion like some here stated in another thread. It was knee jerk and those people didn't and don't know what they're talking about. That's just garbage.

What the hell are you talking about, calling you a RINO?

All I was saying is that Walker has tried to bob and weave on immigration, and that isn't going to work.

He has also faulted national conservatives for trying to draw a line in the sand, and has said that instead they should work together to get things done for the American people---which you and I would agree is nonsense.

If you think you are clear on his ideas about illegal immigration, "then look to the quote(s) below."

And If You Like It, Fine

It doesn't particularly upset me to read that we need to fix immigration. And making it easier to enter doesn't either. I just don't like flaunting the laws in place. I would prefer we have a process where people can legally become citizens rather than sneak across our borders and evade taxes. And retread my comment about RINO. It was a general comment to people who might think I am because I like Walker.

. I've read here where people wanted his hide for not prosecuting the dems who ran to Illinois during the budget debates. There were no laws to do so. Yet Walker lived with threats against his life and suggestions that his family might be in danger. He's a goo damn and it's annoying to read, as I said earlier, knee jerk comments from people like Regulator (I may have that handle slightly wrong).

so I'll debate the nuance of his position on immigration. We may not agree, but let's at least agree to unite behind whoever we pick in 2016 in order to get rid of the mess we have now.

Hey, man, I’m with ya.

I think Walker can meet most any challenge. I’ll support him as long as he can keep hanging tough.

Isn’t Scott Walker for amnesty?

Doesn't matter anymore - he has been declared "tainted" by some who wonder why we an never get a good candidate or win elections.

Yeah, I’m not ready to give him up yet. Property-tax wise, the bleeding may have stopped but there’s still a hell of a wound that needs to be healed.

Oh, hang it up. We love Scott Walker and his lovely First Lady, Tonette, and we don't care what her name is, as long as it isn't Jessica Doyle. (Inside Wisconsin joke.)

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, right, and his wife Jessica, left, arrive at the White House to attend a dinner hosted by President Obama, Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 in Washington.

Check out her shoes!

Nah. You’re the twinkie operating on BS.

And that’s what Scotty be feeding ya, kid.

He’s a politico on the way up. So he’s playing word games that the grooming operation from the RNC tells him to play.

They are trying to redefine the word Amnesty so they can cave and let the terroristas stay.

Maybe just not vote...for a while.

But it’s staying that IS the amnesty. The original crime was barging the border. Deportation should be the result; under federal law, it’s not even a penalty. It’s a courtesy: you sign a document that says you accept the deportation in lieu of being prosecuted. Otherwise, FIRST you get prosecuted, THEN you get deported.

There is no right to occupy the sovereign territory of the United States. It’s the property of the citizenry. Staying without leave is criminal trespass. If such a right existed, it would mean that Invasion was a civil right.

It’s not.

And unlike what Young Mr. Walker is regurgitating about “our broken immigration system”, there’s nothing wrong with it other then the fact that it’s far too liberal, and the 1965 Act should be repealed.

If you don’t favor that, then you’re saying you’re on the side of Ted Kennedy and Norbert Schlei. If I have to explain why that’s a bad thing to you, then there’s no point you calling yourself a “conservative” on this forum.

Nope. Scotty done went to the dark side. He’s mouthing happy talk that Rove’s people are telling him to say. Does he really believe it? Beats me. Don’t care. Since he said it, that takes him off the list.

We got guys like Cruz, Lee, Tancredo, De Mint, Sessions, Steve King, and a few more. The guy with the Spanish name is more nationalist then 99% of the Democrat-Socialist party. So we don’t need any word parsers.

Mr. Walker, if he had core convictions about laws and the American nationality, could have simply said “illegal immigration? It’s illegal, right?” (credit: Sonny Bono) and left it at that. Instead he decided to parrot the RINO line.

Which means we leave him at the line. All of us are tired of turncoats and opportunists.

Scott Walker is pro a LEGAL path to citizenship for immigrants. A system that works...

We have a system for legal immigration; we take more immigrants in absolute numbers than anywhere else.

So, why exactly is it broken? Whenever I hear that it's broken, the speaker means we don't have provision for more/enough immigrants.

That, of course, is an entirely different issue. Those who speak of a 'broken' system wish to dodge that issue and debate.

I get really p!$$3d off at the so-called proponents of 'fixing' the 'broken' system because of the disingenuousness of their argument. If they have to lie they have no case.

Why don’t you go here and see what he is FOR...

That's his position for Wisconsin. If he's running for president, and only a fool would think he isn't, then it's a legitimate question on where he stands on national issues.

Anyone who thinks blocking state immigration laws and bringing in more cheap labor is insane.

He no longer supports a state immigration law even though the police officer in Paul Ryan’s district and others have been harmed by illegals in Wisconsin.
