Some people like to marry young.
even though the subject matter was very serious, I think you waited long enough in the thread to do that. Very well done.
Some years ago, when my son had bone cancer - surgeries, chemo, radiation - I had to come up with a ‘job’ with flexible hours that I could work around his care.
I went to housework - as it pays better than most other jobs. Right now, down here. housekeepers get $20-25 and hour in rural Maine - so must make more in cities.
Other advantages, Once I got a list of clients enough for the money I needed, I could start to pick and choose clients, keeping the better ones. Good money, flexible hours, choose clients...and no one standing over your shoulder -
ALSO, need a ‘raise’? Add another client...AND if you lose a client, well, you still have eggs in your basket. You don’t lose your whole income in one blow.
You may be surprised who in your local area would be happy to employ some homemaker skills. Someone to do washing and ironing etc or do windows, house cleaning. My wife brought in decent money for a few years doing those things for people who were working making heaps of dough but were time poor and wanted to come home to a clean house etc. Don’t undersell those skills either - there’s always good money in stuff people don’t want to do. If you are good at it people will pay more than minimum wage and $10-$12 cash in hand is worth a lot more than that.
My cousin lives in Pittsburgh. When she was about at the end of her roap, she started an emergency call and message service for doctors from her home. PGH is glutted with busy doctors.
Within two years she had a ton of clients and ten employees and is doing very well. It required no training at all, just a good telephone personality and efficiency...and a willingness to be on call at all hours of the day and night.
But it allowed her to be at home with her children and the pay was fairly lucrative right from the start.
Do you have any talents that you use at home that you enjoy like making graphics for FR or anything like that? I did specialty graphics, logos, designed billboards and signs for local businesses. I’ve done holiday cards and wedding invitations.
At tax season, I did taxes. Flyers and event announcements for groups and churches, There is always a market for skills.
Until my health went completely off the charts, it was decent bread money.
If you have wit and can write, depending on where you live, pick a subject that you think people would be interested in and check into writing a filler column for your local newspaper. Send samples. You might be shocked.
Trust me, just think about thngs you do everyday that maybe other people don’t or won’t and just sell yourself. You would be surprised at how many things that seem easy for you are difficult for others.
Good luck.
The local hospitals allowed her to post a notice in their dr lounge and she got all the work she wanted
Sorry thick thumbs this Am. Misdirected the last post
Google “virtual assistant” - you can do it from home. Set your own rates depending on your experience.
We know a couple who made money by scouring yard sales and flea markets and selling the stuff on craigslist and ebay. They did best with the “vintage” jewelry they found. There was always a buyer, even for the ugliest pieces. Find your niche and market those white elephants. Again, something you can do from home.
Prayers up for you.
Morning meditation and prayer time: your thread heads the list. May you find both wisdom and comfort in the posts your FRiends leave
May strength be among the blessings you are about to recieve in your new endeavors what ever direction you are lead
(We love our angles who come in to assist daddy and I it’s thru a Pallative care hospice group Another idea don’t know if its been mentioned. Light housekeeping and personal care)
Hugs to you!
If you have a paypal account, please pm me. I can’t do much but would like to help.
You can make alot of money cleaning houses for wealthy people.
If there is some way you could go to LVN (LPN to Yankees) school for a year, you’d always have a job.
Absolutely look into your state short term disability, and social security’s long term disability.
There should be a social worker at the hospital to help you with this.
I do not support this coerced program but he’s paid his premiums all his life, so he ought to get his benefits.
“I would like to do something in health care.”
If your knowledgeable about healthcare, many companies are looking for healthcare writers. Here’s one example:

Try looking for job leads through the Medical Writers Association here:
You can also make money - about $25 per article - as a content writer here:

Good luck.
However, I do know many stay-at-home moms who earn some money (though probably not enough to pay a mortgage) through side businesses. For example, are you good at baking or cooking? I know moms who cater events or sell baked goods. (Come to think of it, I know a man who started out baking on the side and now owns his own shop.) Other moms earn money through businesses like Pampered Chef or Avon, for example. I recently rented a table at a flea market and sold some items for some quick cash. But some people rent a table every week at flea markets and sell goods. Hope all that information helps.
other good suggestions on this thread
no factory jobs as there used to be in America before democrats chased away factories to China with their government regulations
The sister of a man I worked with buys up blue jeans at yard sales and sells them on eBay. Most of her customers live out of the US. They pay shipping of course
