It was tragic that Bill Elliot of South Carolina was stricken with cancer; reassuring that his excellent insurance covered his expensive but medically advanced treatment and he was doing well.
And then came another tragedy--in the form of an elitist, totalitarian, Know It All Government, almost worse than the cancer. The Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, deemed Elliot's fine insurance policy unacceptable--probably because it didn't include maternity coverage--and offered him another policy with higher, "affordable" premiums that Elliot couldn't afford. As he told Megyn Kelly of Fox News, he didn't want to burden his family with the unaffordable affordable premiums so he decided to do without insurance and "let nature take its course."
But then...good news! Health insurance broker C. Stephen Tucker learned about Elliot's plight from Fox News and helped him keep his insurance.
Uh, no! Another tragedy. Mustn't upset the Big Man in the Big White (racist, I know) House from Chicago who wasn't joking more than four years ago when he told the Arizona State University Board of Regents that it was good he received an honorary degree from the school otherwise they "will soon learn all about being audited by the IRS." Yep, suddenly--and not coincidentally--Elliot and Tucker are being audited by the IRS, joining a list of other organizations and individuals who are also suddenly enduring an IRS audit or other problems after disagreeing with Obama such as several Tea Party and conservative groups, prominent black physician Dr. Ben Carson who has publicly criticized Obamacare, Catholic professor Ann Hendershott who also had the audacity to publicly disagree with Obama and even the billionaire owners of the Chicago Cubs.
Remember, President Barack Obama (D) learned his politics in Chicago with its Chicago Way's "progressive politics" as he bluntly explained in June, 2008 by paraphrasing Eliot Ness,

There is a problem with these stories.
Insurance policies have always been cancelled or modified. While I don’t doubt the number has skyrocketed in the last few months, it’s not like this is an absolutely new phenomenon. To actually have some meaning, statistics are needed to show it has become more common. The story as it stands is merely an anecdote that something bad happened to a person.
Similarly, people and organizations have always been subjected to audit by the IRS. Some of those organizations or individuals, simply due to random luck of the draw, have been “opposed” to whatever group is in power at the moment.
That such things are happening now is now in and of itself news unless a statistical pattern of targetting can be demonstrated, as I believe it was in the non-profit organization issue. Not that very many people cared.
Best Solution? Dump 0bamacare, immediately. And, move the country to a consumption tax model for generation of revenue, along with balanced budget amendment. Follow that with elimination of FedGov departments that are anti-Constitutional (Education, Energy, HHS, Agriculture, etc.) and we’ll be well on our way to recovering the nation, and saving this grand experiment.
Just to fire up the crowd...the Fair Tax takes care of the revenue generation piece.
This is the poor guy who said he’d rather die than drain the assets of his family. Which is exactly what I would say.
F You, Obama. Seriously.
If he sets up a fund for legal costs, I’ll be the first to donate.
Why don't you ask the IRS if you can audit it...?
“Insurance policies have always been cancelled or modified. While I dont doubt the number has skyrocketed in the last few months, its not like this is an absolutely new phenomenon. Hold on!!! I’ve worked as an insurance employee in the public sector for over 35 years. I have NEVER< EVER, EVER had my policy up and cancelled. Not once. Not ever.
We are not talking about a *modification* where the premium goes up 2-3%.
Stop echoing the communist line that Obamacare (until proven otherwise) is just along the same lines as the usual, ordinary, insurance policy changes that happen to everyone, every year. There is no comparison to what is being FORCED onto people and the ordinary yearly adjustments.
That is your experience. Do you have evidence that it is universal, that nobody has ever had their insurance cancelled or modified prior to this year?
“...its not like this is an absolutely new phenomenon. To actually have some meaning, statistics are needed to show it has become more common.”
Ok, how about you do a comparative display (you know, those meaningful statistics you are telling us about) telling us that this is a normal amount of cancellations???
We’ll need to see who sanctioned the study, the data, in raw form, the source who compiled the data, and who paid for the study...
I mean, as long as we should be accepting the fact that people are losing their coverage is not that big a deal, according to you...
Should be easy...We’ll need to see that information, by COB next Friday...
I do think it would be entirely appropriate for the IRS to be required to keep records on how they chose whom to audit.
Regardless of who’s in office, some political opponents will be audited, unless they are specifically excluded.
Look, I have no doubt at all that this administration has misused the IRS and other agencies to target its enemies. I am simply pointing out that cases such as the one in this article do not in and of themselves constitute very good evidence that this is the case.
Where did I say this wasn’t a big deal?
I’m criticizing specifically the absence of actual evidence, of the type you describe, in the article.
To disprove my point, one would have to demonstrate that nobody had ever lost their coverage prior to this year. Since that’s obviously not the case, the only issue relevant to the discussion is how often such loss has occurred over time.
Absent such statistics, all you have, as in this story, is a sad anecdote, which in a country of 300M+ are by definition legion.
I strongly suspect his basic point it quite true, I just want him to prove it more effectively.
“There is no comparison to what is being FORCED onto people and the ordinary yearly adjustments.”
Amen. Of course there are yearly modifications, related to changes in demographics and the economy. I don’t know that it would be possible to find statistics. Anthem/BlueCross/UHealth all act independently to protect their own business model.
But never before has a blanket mandate of coverage requirements been forced onto the health insurance industry.
No evidence needed as these are mere distractions.
"I think that if we get a good public option it could lead to single payer and that is the best way to reach single payer. Saying youll do nothing till you get single payer is a sure way never to get it. I think the best way were going to get single payer, the only way, is to have a public option and demonstrate the strength of its power."
This is where we are headed and the above quote is the evidence.
Gosh Sherm are you really that Naïve?
80 Million people will lose their insurance AFTER the next election.
That is no anecdote Friend that is not usual.
Come out from under that Rock. Obamacare has screwed us all in the butt, without lubricant. Putting it off until after the election will not stop the pain.
Obamacare MUST be eliminated before 80 million people oose their health care. Obamacare is only a license to steal for Insurance Companies and the IRS.
Issa and his Committee joke about this
as they read LOVE-int of Americans.
There is no accountability in America because
of his corrupt committee which waited while drunk.
Above quote: Barney Frank, July 2009.
When Soetoro said, “If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance- Period”, he was lying and everyone now knows he was knowingly lying from the get-go. Individual health insurance policies were “grandfathered” ONLY if NOTHING changed regarding service coverage & premiums from one contract year to the next. Well, most policies had to change in order to be “compliant” - hence all these massively increased premiums to now cover mental health, substance abuse and childbirth services, to name a few major things. Soetoro wants us all to “just take a pill” and suffer until we die. Those are words out of his own mouth. Plenty of evidence on a daily basis from our PINO to prove that this goes way beyond “anecdotal.”
Why would anybody want ‘single payer’?
Entirely agree the President intentionally lied.
Though I have no doubt that in his mind it wasn’t a “real” lie since it served a “higher good.”
.Gestapo agents and informants concentrated on finding suspected political dissidents of the Third Reich. Spying on citizens became pervasive, and the Gestapo encouraged people to turn in "suspect persons" to local authorities. While victims of the Gestapo were subject to both civil and criminal prosecution, the secret police themselves operated above the law. On February 10, 1936, the Nazi government officially decreed that the organization was not subject to judicial review. There were no legal restraints on detention of suspects, evidence collection, or police violence. This lack of legal restraint, paired with the Gestapo's tendency to attract and employ Nazi extremists and former criminals....
