Filibustering a sitting member of Congress for the first time in 150 years is an insult to a colleague and, in the case of Representative Mel Watt, is a hit in the gut to the African American community. Once a president is elected, he is entitled to his choice of executives to implement the policies he had promised to carry out if elected. Representative Watt, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a graduate of Yale Law School, had deep professional experience in housing as a practicing attorney before coming to Congress, Norton said in a statement last week.
We support the Senates approval to require an up-or-down vote for all nominations other than for the Supreme Court. For the Congressional Black Caucus, the filibuster of two eminently qualified African American candidates without so much as an up-or-down vote is a last-straw moment. One of the most able members of the CBC and an African American district court judge unanimously confirmed just three years ago have been filibustered at the gateways, before the Senate had a chance to consider their nominations. Throughout the 20th century, the filibuster was used largely to block civil rights legislation, she added.

From the lunatic fringe - Watt's name isn't mentioned past the first sentence -
“Throughout the 20th century, the filibuster was used largely to block civil rights legislation, she added.
Every time it has been the party that you so slavishly follow.
“Don’t get stuck on stupid” might be apropos here; BUT, this is beyond stupid.
He has a problem with white people, according to Ralph Nader.
To Eleanor Holmes Norton, everything is race.
Why stop with her.
To the entire Congressional Black Caucus everything is race.
Norton is as worthless as a side saddle for a hog. She has drawn all of the perks of office for a couple of decades and can’t even vote. (Unless that has changed)
Iffen you oppose our MuzziePOTUS—YOU’RE WAAAAAYSSSIST!!
Yeah, heard that one before.
Wait until the day comes when republicans are in the majority.
There will be wailing, flailing and gnashing of teeeth.
Nonsense.
If Republicans ever again are in the majority (and a short-lived one it'll be) the filibuster will be back in force the night before, and all the punditry applauding too.
There will never be another Republican majority in the Senate. In 2012 the Democrats perfected the process of rigging elections.

Basic problem with this article: it implicitly assumes that logic has any inherent value to the left.
You cannot reason with the insane.
It follows logically from this statement that Congress should have no say whatsoever in presidential appointments (at least when a Dem is in the White House, I suppose).
The Republicans had too much class than to kill a gentleman’s agreement such as this. Not so the democrats! Harry Reid is completely defunct of class.
