That was good, but Hale-Bopp and Hyatuke(sp?) of the mid-90’s were pretty good, too.
It looks like it was dimming before it went behind the Sun. I wonder if all the material simply burned off rather than being blown apart.

Mass just does not dissappear
Even if it vaporized it still has mass in the form of vapor. You can still see SOMETHING following the trajectory after it passes the sun
I expect it was torn to shreds, but where did those shreds go?
If some of them got sucked into the sun I would expect the remaining debri not to follow the original path (it would have changed trajectory outward as it lost mass inward)
I can't recall that.
How did it compare to Hale-Bopp in 1997?
Darn I was looking forward to this one. Hale-Bop was pretty good.
