Radio giant Rush Limbaugh is scorching the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for criticizing unfettered capitalism, saying, This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope.
You know the pope, Pope Francis has issued an official papal proclamation, and its sad, Limbaugh said on his national broadcast Wednesday. Its actually unbelievable. Its sad because this pope makes it very clear he doesnt know what hes talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth.
Im not Catholic, Limbaugh added, but up until this I admired the man.
In the 84-page document titled Evangelii Gaudium, which was released Tuesday, Pope Francis called upon politicians to provide dignified work, education and health care to all citizens.
The commandment Thou shalt not kill sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life, wrote the pope. Today we also have to say thou shalt not to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.
Noting that he had visited the Vatican numerous times, Limbaugh observed wryly: Believe me, it wouldnt exist without tons of money. Somebody has either written this for [the pope] or gotten to him. This is pure Marxism.

rush is for rush and ratings. period.
I do not and never have had a cell phone of my own. I have nothing against charity. You do not get charity from the state or from the ‘politicians’, as Francis put it.
People should be able to buy things and to make things and to sell things without the government or some other entity being able to use force to stop them and to enforce monopolies.
Using the rule of law, the state should allow people to buy and sell legal products freely. There is nothing immoral about you selling me an apple, a purchase that both buyer and seller are happy with.
It doesn’t matter if the legal product is an apple, a robe, a Bible or a car. There is nothing immoral about people voluntarily trading with each other. If the Pope does not agree with this he is out to lunch.
This does not contradict in any way with charity. This does not impede charity in any way.
If the Pope is calling on the state, politicians, to create a charity state that gives everything to everyone, then he asking the government to put us all in comfy prisons.
What the Hell are you babbling about?
Rush Limbaugh has been torturing liberals since 1984 with the enthusiasm of a shock-jock and the precision of a surgeon. What have you done?
There are a lot of conservatives who owe their livelihoods to Rush, who wouldn't exist if it weren't for Rush. And this country would probably be a 3rd world dumpster already if it weren't for Rush to slow the tide.
Rush, not Oprah or Gloria Steinem, should have received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Maybe His Excellency, Pope Marx I, ought to educate himself on the subject of economics before lambasting the most effective (and only proven) means of raising people out of poverty. But who am I to judge.
Inequality does not cause violence. Poverty does not even cause violence.
In between the insults, others have said it better than I ever could. To call it “pure Marxism” is as someone noted ‘bombastic nonsense’. It’s like a stage performer telling the audience “you are the best audience ever”. And as someone else noted, Limbaugh is an entertainer, no different from Barbra Streisand and Metallica. I am not a fan of any of them, that’s all.
some Freepers do not really know what Captitalism is. Unfettered Capitalism is what Obama has...Cronyism that is statist.
“I don’t think the Pope’s remarks echoed Marxism so much as Peronism”
That’s a fascinating comparison:

Well said. sometimes Rush has great things to say in a great way, other times he’s just trying to get ratings...in that respect his show is quite inconsistent.
Robbing the taxpayers to the benefit of the wealthy is such a lofty goal.
ExpatGator made a better point than I could in post 92 with regard to China.
Now to Rush....I thought Rush was “upset” because the pope seemed to dismiss the importance of the “market” in people’s lives. When someone purchases the latest product, it means others have been employed to create/manufacture/market/transport it. New products mean JOBS. You can’t provide too much charity without having the means to do so.
I don’t think Rush is too attached to his things. I think he enjoys them for sure, but Rush spends far more time talking about concepts like liberty, morality, responsibility, you get my drift, than he ever spends talking about things.
I agree. The early church was communist. How did that work out? ;-P
Thank you for the question, but you're reading too much into my earlier statement.
Since people don't eat gold for example, I wouldn't mind being one of the middle-men who sells gold to Glenn Beck.
But when the commodity is something like gas that many people have to use on a daily basis to get to work, then why make things more difficult for such people by making their gas more expensive?
Western Capitalism? ha. Like we have here? Crony captilism with govt funding and bailouts is what we have!
Which has to do with a broker buying and selling in what way? Your comment was about an oil broker buying at one price and reselling when the price was higher.
Which would not be possible with “unfettered capitalism”. If these people live in a state where the government makes them have no choice in the matter then it is very much fettered.
the Pope is talking about disparity and charity...he is not a socialist. Before you come off with that, check out his record against the leftists in argentina..so the only way to criticize him is to interpet that his denouncing of ‘selfishness” means he is a commie. yeah, right.
I’m thinking RC is one of those Catholics who kinda worships the pope. Not saying he/she is, but the emotional response right up there at the top of the thread tells me this person was really, REALLY ticked at what Rush said. And it wasn’t miss assigning “marxist” to the pope. Rather, it was that he dissed the pope at all.
the media will always play up the Pope in THEIR way and hundreds of freepers go right along with it. ha.
