LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — The Southern California maker of a popular hot sauce has been ordered to cease operations that have allegedly emitted harmful odors into the surrounding community, after residents’ complaints of health problems prompted a lawsuit.

A state court judge issued a decision late Tuesday finding that Huy Fong Foods Inc., the manufacturer of cult-favorite Sriracha “Rooster Sauce” and other chili sauce products, must “make changes in its site operations reducing odors and the potential for odors” at its Irwindale, Calif., factory. The injunction is slated to take effect on Dec. 9.

“Okay, I’ll have to give it a try. I’m only a moderately picky hot sauce snob, with Crystal original as my go to sauce. I’ll give Sriracha a try.”

Got a bottle in my desk here at work. And a bottle at home. It’s totally different than Crystal. Thicker. Kinda sweet and a little fruity maybe with a lingering heat....Ever try Texas Pete Hotter hot sauce? It’s more like Crystal hot sauce but it does have a pretty good kick.

My three favorite sauces: Crystal, Sriracha, and Texas Pete. When I’m making a spaghetti sauce, I put in a few dabs of McIlhenny - I don’t tell the wife, no no!

... Harold’s Chicken Shack...

I take it that they didn't have a humungous neon chicken sign that lit up the entire neighborhood? /Seinfeld

Better! Most Harold's Chicken Shancks have a neon sign of Harold taking a hatchet to the chicken. The character of Harold often changes depending on the makeup of the neighborhood. Some have also featured the "chickenmobile" (giant chicken head) and my favorite, a six-foot hand painted "Ode to a Chicken"

Ever try Texas Pete Hotter hot sauce?

I have just had their regular. I was in college in Virginia, and it was Texas Pete or Durkee/Frank's over-rated Red Hot Sauce. I opted for TX Pete's suspicious of it's non Louisiana sourcing. It was acceptable to improve the bland dorm food.

Crystal original as my go to sauce

My favorites are Crystal and Frank's/Durkee's. Compared to these, Sriracha is just OK. I'd bet you end up going back to Crystal :-)

Sort of reminds me of one of the few epis of "Family Guy" (Y2K?) that I was able not only able to get through, but thoroughly enjoyed.

I also like the folks who move in across the street from a school that’s been there for years and then complain about band practice, noisy crowds at sporting events, other programs that bring visitors, and kids being kids.

I just learned that an agreement has been reached. The factory owners will now be capturing the emissions, packaging them in spray cans, and selling them to outdoorsmen and others who are around dangerous animals and people.

"Rooster Sauce Bear Spray" will soon be available from the plant for carry out or delivery.

I remember the smell of tobacco when I worked downtown in Winston and I remember the smell of Dewey’s Bakery.

Apples and oranges. Sriracha has more of a garlic backbite whereas Crystal/Franks/TexasPete are more cayenne pepper sauces.
Texas Pete is made in Winston-Salem NC.

Tend to agree with your "Apples and Oranges" statement....

Hot sauces are like women....plenty of them, and plenty different.
