Pope Francis said Tuesday in his first apostolic exhortation that no matter how progressive-minded the world turns, the Catholic Church can never compromise on its no abortion rule its a matter of human dignity.
I want to be completely honest in this regard, he said, Catholic News Service reported. This is not something subject to alleged reforms or modernizations. It is not progressive to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life.
The statement comes in sharp contrast to some in the political world, of mostly liberal and left-of-center progressive mind, who claim loyalty to the Catholic faith, yet refuse to denounce abortion as a matter of policy. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, one of the most visible examples of such politicos, has advocated for years for the rights of women to abort to the point of even raising the hackles of one Catholic cardinal in September, who said the Democrat should quit taking Communion.

some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world
It’s not what that says
Drop it.
You're blatantly making false statements. Not a nice witness for your church.
A free market philosophy is the antithesis of ideology. It is the natural order of nature, God's work. The Church should have a high regard for that view.
On the other hand, when the Catholic church uses words such as "unfettered capitalism" and "unbridled capitalism", it is using the language of an ideology, Marxist ideology. I view this as naivete on their part, since I cannot imagine the Church would intentionally use the language of atheists. Or could it be the insidious effects of revolutionary theology, still present, despite Cardinal Ratzinger's admonitions?
What, is there any other kind?
Metaphor mix of the week!
She probably doesn't spend all her time hanging around at basketball fields.

Trade is part of the natural order, but the corporation is not. It is an extension of property rights which makes great undertakings possible, but depending upon its legal definition and historical circumstances, can work against the common good.
This is one sense in which “unfettered capitalism” is criticized. Yes, “capitalism” is a Marxist term, but it is a term that is even used here. The free market is a better term.
A bit off topic, but is important to respond to your comment concerning corporations. The unique feature of corporations is limited liability, which originated in England in 1855. Centralization of management had already existed for a century in partnerships, which often had managing partners, and in trusts. I don't perceive anything dangerous about limited liability as long as it is adequately disclosed. Government-chartered corporations, often granted monopoly powers, have always been open to abuse, whether it be the British East India Company or the U.S. Federal Reserve. I don't think, however, that GSEs are what vex the Left, or the Catholic church for that matter: just the opposite, in fact.
In my view, the modern corporate form is merely a convenient scapegoat for the Left, due to its power to facilitate commerce and create wealth without assistance from the heavy hand of government. The Left cannot countenance competition from free rational actors on the economic stage.
As with other topics, demonization only works if there are enough uninformed dupes. It pains me to see the Catholic church taken in.
BTTT!
I see this as a very Important Statementregarding Mrs Pelosi:
“Then, in an interview with The Wanderer reported by the Western Center for Journalism, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said of Mrs. Pelosi: This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin cooperating with the crime of procured abortion and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”
Yeah, he's leaving no doubt where he stands economically.
That's the problem with claiming any man besides Jesus having a direct source of perfect wisdom. Whether a politician or a religious figure, they will ultimately let you down because only Jesus was perfect in wisdom in the flesh. Because you claim that a certain man should lead without question, now you must contort yourself when he shows himself to not be infallible, and you even have to go against long established conservative standards such as supply side economics in order to cling to the believe that this man should lead the world spiritually.
The Atlantic, yesterday.
The parable of the vineyard, for one, Matthew 20...each laborer was paid on individual deals made with the householder.
Thanks for the ping. Pelosi should not be given communion.
WEll. That took 24 hours or so.
The Atlantic is going to quote the pope out of context for the purpose of propaganda, to discourage conservatives and to fuel hatred for the Church for liberals a lot more readily than they will any conservative American.
Always check the original source, or at least National Catholic Register for the truth.
If you are not interested in the truth of the matter, we have nothing more to discuss.

You are extrapolating a lot of lies off of my position.
Most of what you say here is complete fabrication and lies.
You have no right whatever, no matter what kind of brainless Anticatholic hatred you have been immersed in by however many people you trust and for however long, to state my position.
People who claim to hate the Church and the Pope or to find it wrong, do not know the church, what it states, it’s positions, its spirit, nothing.
You are wasting time with your ignorance.
I deny everything you say about my position.
Those are not my positions.
Take it somewhere else, but you WILL find friendly listeners to your position here on this anti catholic friendly site.
It’s just that it’s a lot of lies.
I check headlines sometimes. I don't spend all day on here. lol I saw your post this morning and answered immediately.

The pope is not conservative so how does a liberal pope hurt conservatives? My mom, who isn't Catholic, loves Obama, Bill Maher, and the new pope. What does that tell you? lol And it's not out of context, the pope is against supply side economics.

And it's the same thing as in the Atlantic.
If you can't take it, don't dish it out. In your first post to me you called me an anti-Catholic bigot, and now you're all upset that let my assumptions be known.
The bible says "Come out of her my people". Some of God's people are in Mystery Babylon. I'm certainly not against God's people, I want them to come out of Mystery Babylon.
