SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A California ordinance that prohibits smoking in residences with shared walls may be the strictest anti-smoking law in the United States, city officials say.
The ban, passed by the city of San Rafael, applies to both owners and renters, ABC News reported Thursday.
It covers any multi-family residence with three or more units, including condominiums, co-ops and apartments. The ban took effect Nov. 14.

Nanny State PING!
The perfect town for you.
Bet they’ll let you smoke weed, however.
pole smoking remains a protected right
These goofyass governors in the goofyass states all seem to be engaged in a contest to see who can become more like the old Third Reich first.
Astonishing.
,
The Puritans are on a rampage. I wonder how much longer before they’ll simply ban cigarettes somewhere.
The dangerous behavior of smoking - banned by the government even in your own bedroom
The dangerous behavior of the gay lifestyle - promoted and celebrated by the same government
So it is not really about health - is it?
If majority voters don’t like the law. but don’t lift a finger to elect lawmakers who will repeal the law, then voters can quit smoking or face the consequences.
I bet they let you molest children where you live.
It’s so wonderful to have emphysema and have your apartment filled with cigarette smoke from the next apartment.
Nah, where I live, they’d gut child molesters while smoking Camels.
So why, in your view, is smoking equivalent to child molestation. I’d like to hear the explanation coming from such a disturbed mind as yours.
I respect your views that concern the consequences of smoking, and I know you’re attacked for it. But resorting to the charge you just made in retaliation is reckless.
doesn’t anyone, anywhere, know how to tell the government to go to hell...for crying out loud, there are more gutless people than I ever thought possible....on the other hand, these morons probably elected the brain dead who run their city....sad!!
you aren't really trying to tell people that a cigarete can contaminate from one apartment to another are you???PLEASE
It must be wonderful to live in a fantasy land where things happen without cause and effect.
What if all the tenants in the building smoke?
Sure, why not?
But I simply don't see why landlords can't set rules for their apartment buildings, designating their buildings as smoking or non-smoking. Let the market decide.
