There is an ongoing congressional investigation of improprieties and possible fraud at the US Census, as the New York Post reports a rumor that in 2009, gearing up for the 2010 national headcount, the Obama administration wanted to put the Census under the auspices of senior White House aide Rahm Emanuel.
Normally, the Census is administrated by the Chief of the Commerce department. Obama reportedly decided that Emanuel would be a superior overseer. The fact that a strident Democratic strategist such as Emanuel could have been at the helm of the Census, the main purpose of which is congressional redistricting, must have put Republicans in a lather.
Last week, the Post reported that during the 2012 presidential campaign, US census data was manipulated to demonstrate a favorable decrease in unemployment from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 in September. The steep decline indicated Obamas economy was looking much better. However, not only were these numbers false, but the US Census knew it. Moreover, the manipulating of data was allegedly pervasive and had been going on for some time.

Yawn a Congressional investigation of fraud at the Census Bureau will go just as far as the Congressional investigation of the IRS shutting down conservative groups did. The election was stolen through many cumulative efforts such as these and we are stuck with communist government for another four years as a result. What good are lily-livered Congressional investigations at this point?
must have put Republicans in a lather.
Conservatives yes, republicans not so much.
Hangin’ on the shed, there are no tanned hides, Clyde...
Mind me platypus duck. Oh, don’t let him go running amuck, Bill.
That’s why its so important to elect good solid secretaries of state in each state to safeguard the electoral process. I think its one of the single biggest reason Michigan is moving to the right.
The census has no other purpose than to count the number of people
for redistricting of the House of Representatives.
That is why I think the census should be run by the House of Representatives.
I don't recall most of my elementary school grammar, but this sounds like a presumption of all the abuse being in the past (past perfect?).
This crap is ongoing, every damn week the late Thursday unemployment claim numbers being revised UPWARDS for the previous week. I fully expect it to continue, if not worsen.
And the data collected stripped down to the bare minimum.
I thought I remembered reading that Obama stuffed the Census Bureau full of Acorn guys.

Wow, putting the census under the control of a dual citizen crook? What can go wrong there?
Imagine the tens of millions of additional Democrats found living in the inner cities (while Republicans magically seem to disappear).
Is a GD shame that the rats ran the last TWO censuses. Another reason we must win in 2016.
Even worse than the fact that the Clinton and Obama administrations ran the past two censuses was the fact that the GOP did not amend the Census laws during its 2003-2006 period of control of both houses and the presidency in order to (i) get rid of all forms of sampling, including “hot-deck imputation,” (ii) count as inhabitants residents of states who temporarily were abroad serving as religious missionaries, professors, students, etc. (currently only those on military or government service are counted, which is why NC, not UT, got the 435th CD after the 2000 Census), (iii) stop counting college students, those in short-term incarceration and other temporary residents in their temporary address instead of their permanent home address, and (iv) STOP COUNTING ILLEGAL ALIENS AND THOSE HERE ON TEMPORARY VISAS (INCLUDING STUDENT VISAS) AS IF THEY WERE INHABITANTS OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE STATE OF THEIR NON-PERMANENT ABODE. Those changes should have been made solely for the Census enumeration used for the apportionment of congressional and state legislative districts, not for federal funding and planning in which it doesn’t matter whether the resident is temporary or permanent.
Sure, the Democrats and Obama could have tried to reverse that in 2009, but it would have been very difficult to do because it was so close to the Census and since they would need 60 votes in the Senate (meaning every Democrat plus Specter, with Dems in states without a lot of illegal aliens being unlikely to vote to repeal a law that would result in more representation for their state). Besides, I would think that Republicans standing up for the rule of law and the prospect of Democrats repealing the Census amendment would have motivated conservatives to vote in 2006 and 2008 and cost the Democrats a half-dozen Senate seats (think of the fluke wins by Begich over Stevens in AK, Tester over Burns in MT, Webb over Allen in VA, McCaskill over Talent in MO, Merkley over Smith in OR, Franklin over Coleman in MN, etc.).

Indeed, talk about dropping the ball.
